Setting-up a hot dog cart inside a school campus Wed, 07/6/05 9:44 PM (permalink)
Hi! I am from canada

I am planning to setup my first hot dog cart inside a college campus, there are about 8000 students and staffs there. It only has 1 coffee shop and 2 fastfood restaurants. & The campus is isolated from other restaurants (it take at least 15 minute walk to the closest restaurant outside the campus).

Do u think it is a good location for me?

I was thinking of the same idea, but would be set up friday and saturday nights until the bars close. Should make alot of money just don't know how to get a space, most of the colleges are State colleges so I might have to jump through some hoops. I work at a place now near a small college campus and when the students come in during the day they all say we should have a cart on the campus at night, but its in a very high crime area.

All I can say is check your local ordinances. I had a similar idea a year ago, and after some studying I found that you have to be "X" amount of feet from a school (public, private, college, etc) to operate a cart. We have 4 colleges piggy backed within a block and I thought I hit the mother lode.. Explains why nobody else was set up before my master plan of the time....
