Short Day Trip from Brentwood, TN to McMinnville, TN - anyone got any ideas?

If not, guess we might be trying to forage some new trails.  Got a bunch of new updates I need to post especially in the Nashville area but I want some little out in the boonies places to try - you know the REAL finds.

The best I can offer is Bell Buckle Cafe. It's about 10 minutes off 24 south of Murfreesboro. It's a Meat n 2 with a long list of mains and side. Quite a number of which are excellent.
The whole reason you MUST (at some point) visit here though it the Oatmeal Cake for dessert. It's incredible.

I doubt that I'll be back in Nashville before the fall, but Davwud totally sold me on Bell Buckle as a to-do along the way when I read that entry a few weeks ago.  Also, in that area, I quite liked CBQ in Smyrna, and Slick Pig BBQ in Murfreesboro was also very good, although we failed to order the smoked wings that they are most famous for.

Some of these outlying towns and counties might be covered pretty well at Ulika BBQ.  Their Nashville exploration is getting a little outdated, as a few of these places have closed, but I find this a good starter:

And I really enjoy Lannae's Food and Travel, who has also covered the area in great detail:

Check out Pratter's BBQ at 9576 Manchester Highway between i24 & McMinnville.  I had a good meal there and it seemed worthy of further investigation.  Good luck!
