Short Sugar's

Short Sugar's, today's featured eatery, also has a branch in Danville VA. It was one of my late father in law's favorite places. In fact, he once gave us a bottle of sauce from there.

Fast forward a few monthe. We forgot about the sauce until one afternoon we heard an explosion in the pantry. Yep. Short Sugar's barbeque was all over everything. Wasn't funny at the time, but it is now!

Short Sugars' (Danville) is excellent if you are lucky enough to get the meat right off of the pit, otherwise, below average after reheat and serve.

Went here for breakfast last Friday morning and
    while motoring through Danville, Virginia...

...and while I had dinner at the North Carolina restaurant of the same name back in June, breakfast at the Virginia-supposedly-unrelated-"branch" of the same was particularly outstanding. Homemade biscuits, crisp bacon, grits, great eggs and coffee. Definitely worth the stop for anyone traveling through or to the bottom of Virginia.
