Simple Things

I work from home and have been swamped. Have only been out of the house once in the past two weeks. So this afternoon I took a magazine, a sandwich, and a drink and drove to a local park. The weather was beautiful, the leaves are changing. Such a simple thing, but really enjoyable! What are some of the simple things in life that you enjoy?

Parking by the channel in The Marina where I can watch boats, birds, seals and jets take off from LAX all at the same time.

Fall brings a refreshing change of seasons that draws me outside more than other seasons. Today, after two days of cloudy showers and temps in the 70's, we are bright sun, very brisk breezes (up to 30 mph) and temps in the lower 60's. I enjoy sittin on the deck, reading, talking to the dogs, and watching the leaves react to the winds. Simple pleasures are the best ! Yeah, Fall is a real nice time of year.

One of my favourite things is to sit in a chaise longue under the silver maple in my back yard with a book. Unfortunately, that can only happen on warm days, and we're out of those. Otherwise, soaking in a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a book, or curling up under a quilt with a book...books are the main thing, really.

I pretty much enjoy anything that entails doing nothing. Actually I enjoy Fall very much as we are nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, horrible weather this year, but wow, it's so beautiful here. My biggest enjoyment is sitting here talking to the BBQ lovers of the world, and Q IS loved worldwide.

I love a cool fall evening, a good book, snuggled up on the couch with my dogs, and something good in the oven or simmering on the stove.

ces1948 Listening to the full 2 hours of Prairie Home Companion while traveling to and from a work assignment. I agree about A Prairie Home Companion. I have been listening to it ever since it began. A great show. Have you seen the movie? Meryl Streep,Lily Tomlim, Woody Harrelson, John C Reilly, Kevin Kline, & of course Garrison Keillor, such a good movie. I have watched it several times.

A calm sail up to Marblehead on a perfect summer day. Snowshoeing through the woods in Alaska with the snow falling. Being out in Prince William Sound in the evening and watching the otters swim by and the eagles flying overhead. Seeing bears.

Watching my 14 m/o "grandson" sleep. He fights it so much and then it is like flipping a switch and he even "snores" when he is really tired. I could watch him for hours, it seems like only days ago my son was that small hard to believe he is 13 already. The feel and sound of a heavy snow fall in the middle of the night. I love sitting out on the porch watching it snow heavily in the winter. The sounds get muffled, the snow glistens off any light in the area. It is so peaceful and quiet

A glass of wine, a little sunshine, a comfy chair and a view of a body of water will typically make me very happy. Standing on a corner at Watkins Glen International Race Track, dressed in white with a flag in my hand and a radio on my head as sports cars roar past me also makes me pretty happy...

I took a walk today-sunny day with beautiful clouds, a bit windy, trees showing their October colors, and thinking of nothing except I am glad to be alive.

I enjoyed the movie and to me it captured the essence of the shop. I enjoy the variety aspect of the shop most of all. I really liked the band from Quebec and the backup tenor from NYMO from recent shows.

It's rainy and windy here today. I like a rainy day, it seems to slow the pace of the day down. Don't feel like I have to push as hard to get things done.

I would say...reading a book is #1, and then snuggling with my cat, and (hopefully) a new puppy. Actually, reading everyone's posts makes me calm and gives me the reminder to make the 'simple things' more important in my life. Thank you!

Sitting on the porch or in the garage during a Thunderstorm. Watching the lightening and listening to the thunder with an occasional blast of rain mist hitting me in the face. Enjoying the power of Mother Nature. My kids and grandkids are all athletes. I enjoy watching them compete. Sitting on a deserted, quiet section of the Beach in Pensacola after dark with no light except the moon and stars and listening to the waves hit the shore. Invariably I would fall asleep, sometimes until sunrise - which was beautiful as well.
