Sister Schubert's Yeast Rolls or any others?

Linda says that there's no difference between yeast rolls and any other dinner roll. (We're not talking about biscuits here). She says it's just marketing.

What's the difference between just regular ol' dinner rolls and yeast rolls?

Are Sister Schubert's Yeast Rolls good? Are there any other store-bought brands that you like?

Sister Schubert's Yeast Rolls: they definitely melt in
    your mouth!

and they're made right across the border in Alabama...

(if I remember the story, they started baking rolls in
their home, and by word-of-mouth, the business expanded) [|)]

    Thanks for the info guys!

Is there a difference between "yeast rolls" and just regular dinner rolls?

I can't really tell the difference: Golden Corral, Barnhill's,
and Ryan's have big yeast rolls in their buffets.

To the best of my knowledge unless it's a baking powder biscuit, those rolls ALL have yeast in them, regular dinner rolls and "yeast rolls". I'm kind of baffled why they would be labled as such.

    Well darn it Lisa!
Sounds like you're agreeing with Linda. (But thanks for the reply!)

So I shouldn't get any more excited when someone says "..and we're having yeast rolls with dinner!" than I would if they said "we're having regular old rolls with dinner!"

There's nothing better than a good yeast roll. Of course all rolls are made with yeast, but that doesn't make them Yeast Rolls. A yeast roll is made in a muffin tin and rises to the point that the top just overflows the space defined by the muffin mold and browns up nicely. It may have the taste of a good old Parker House roll, just a little buttery, but it is usually huge.

Some of the best I've had were served with chicken fried steak in Texas. Gennie's Bishop Grill and the Mecca in Dallas serve up very good yeast rolls.

I like the Sister Shubert's rolls. They are not as good as homemade, but I rarely have the time to make them anyway.

I can highly recommend Sister Schubert's rolls - great with homemade stew.
