Very nice, and dramatic, changes. I found everything seamless once I spent about 30 seconds getting familiar with the new site.

I have a quick reply box at the end of the posts...Maybe Seafarer isn't paying his monthly dues to the Moderators??

When looking at the group foto AM I the only one who thought "MARC" was really Signman?

Thank you, Stephen. I am logged on OK, I have already edited some former posts successfully, and seafarer john, I get a Quick Reply screen where it always has been. By the way, I don't want to start a "war", but I like the new colors a lot (of course my favorite colors are yellow, orange, brown, and green). I find the new colors here to have a lively "up-beat" feel, while I think the standard blue and grey Microsoft colors look "depressing". No matter what color combination you pick, some people are going to like it and some won't.

Thought I was goin' nuts over here. I wonder if it'll look different when I get home, since I'm on the computer at work (um, at lunchtime).

I'm bumping this up because I'd still like to know if it's just my computer, or if it is the software. It is frustrating (albeit one of the minor frustrations in life!) to press the "jump to last post" button and go to the first post!

Good things are happening. I am now typing this message on my newly restored "quick reply" - right where it has always been in the past.

Cheers, John

I find no comment about being logged in the way berndog does at home (and I am at home and have been the whole time, even before the upgrade). I see no knife/fork/spoon in the URL line that tiki sees. What am I doing wrong?????

I can no longer edit either, in fact, I was "unabled" somewhere along the way before the change. Gosh knows I need to be able to edit. Everything looksg reat though.

Thought I was going crazy too with the log in thing - I can get on on my PC at work, but when I watch the phones and try to get on at that computer, I can't. I'm sure it'll be fixed soon ....BTW - I'm liking the new look - it'll take a bit to get used to though.

The changes are too numerous to mention everything, but the most significant is the graphics, the "Logbook" features (accessible to subscribers of the Roadfood Insider), and the forums integration with the rest of the site. The search page is also cleaner and enables you to see different "views" of the search results.

Please let us know if you encounter any SNAFU's, etc. We are planning even more changes in the next few weeks - like the ability to upload photos for the forums and our Roadfood videos. Enjoy!
Hi guys and girls,

I'm running Safari 1.2.4 (v125.12) on a Mac Powerbook running OS X 10.3.6, Build 7R28, and where I used to be able to log on no trouble, logging on now crashes my Safari browser. That is, whenever I put the roadfood web address in now(or click on any link to the site), it loads to a certain point, (about 1/2 way), the browser quits, and I get an error message saying that it has quit.

From the photo, you all look like a REALLY NICE group of people, surely not people who would dismiss the Mac OS X!

Eagerly awaiting your reply!

Matthew

I used to use Safari for almost everything for my Mac. I have since switched to Firefox. It is a much better browsing experience and RF does not crash.

I've talked to the Safari engineering team about this. There is some HTML in the profile/registration pages that appears to be out-of-spec. Mozilla (Firefox)and IE are resilient to this and Safari gets thrown in to a loop.
Computer IT folks love to go around in circles pointing the finger at "who is responsible," and in truth there is often some issue as to whose fault it is. But I'd say when every other browser has 0 problems interpreting the supposedly defective HTML, I would tend to conclude that it is the Safari browser that is defective in the way it interprets code, not the coding.

No problem here at work but lots of problems on 'puter at home. Home page doesn't recognize me & won't let me save to favorites. Comes up one time with a blank page saying y'all are working on it and the next minute takes me to the home page.

OK Folks - You should now notice a login button at the top of the screen if you are not logged in. This should hopefully resolve the issue!

To use a newspaper parlance, it would be helpful if you swapped the content on the right side above the fold with the most recent form posts.

I come back to the site and quickly want to see what's new...scrolling down to find the most recent forum posts is a bit inconvenient.

Thanks Stephen; with this improvement, I completely love the new site. By the way, when I got to my home computer and went to the site, it did say I was logged in. But the new login icon is great for work or when visiting and using someone elses computer.

Hey Stephen,

I was trying to use the search features on the restaurants link. Once I got there, I selected a state, all restaurants. Then, from there, I clicked on photos. For instance, when I put Alabama in, it gave me a large list, of course, but when I clicked on photos, all that came up was a sign for one of the reviews that talked about boiled peanuts. I know there are photos for EVERY review, so what gives???

Also, since it only gives 50 as the max, is there a way to continue the list from the first 50? Why is it limited?

Thanks, Pwingsx

Ooops, my bad. I realized there are NOT photos for EVERY review. BUt I'm sure there is more than one for all the restaurants listed in Alabama, aren't there?

Is this a user error? If so, my apologies.

Stephen, what will change on foto uploads? Is the old way obsolete, and will we all have to pay for insider status to upload pictures?

The photo uploads on Roadfood Insider are not associated to any of the photos in the reviews. You don't (and never will) have to be a member of the subscription service to contribute reviews, restaurants, or photos to the "Roadfood Approved" places on the site.
