Site Upgrade

As you can tell, we did a major site upgrade today. The changes are too numerous to mention everything, but the most significant is the graphics, the "Logbook" features (accessible to subscribers of the Roadfood Insider), and the forums integration with the rest of the site. The search page is also cleaner and enables you to see different "views" of the search results.

Please let us know if you encounter any SNAFU's, etc. We are planning even more changes in the next few weeks - like the ability to upload photos for the forums and our Roadfood videos. Enjoy!

Help! I cleared my cookies this morning,(no wise cracks, please) and I can't figure out how to log-in. I found out I can post a response,(see blank quote/response on Thanksgiving Turkey thread) but I'm not logged in, and can't edit...etc...

So help me out here, am I blind?

Cosmos, it should prompt you to login when needed. Let me know if this isn't a good thing to do.

Without a log-in, how are we able to edit previously submitted posts? Is there a log-in sopmewhere that I'm not seeing?

Beyond that, congrats! It looks great! I haven't been to this site in a while and it's been my loss. A fine place it is!

Stephen, the only prompt I'm seeing is the blanks at the top of the response window.

As noncentz says, how do we edit posts if we are not logged in? I clicked on the user's profile icon, and got a message that I needed to be logged in to view users profile.

The old log-in window was nice, I knew where it was and I could see when I was in or out. Everything else looks great though.

Pray tell, where are you finding this, said log in procedure? I seem to be the only one lost here, (same old story).

    Looks great. Nice job Stephen.

At first I missed the list of recent forums, but then scolled down a little further and found it. Also saw the comment about logging in, so I just clicked on add a response and it did ask for my username and pw. Now, the question is, how will I log out when finished with my visit today. This is one area where I think I preferred the old login/logout selection at the top of each column. But time will tell.

I like the idea of our being able to post pictures on the forum without them having to be on the web first. Should make it a lot more interesting to see the finished version of some of the recipes that are posted, or comments on a Roadfood establishment without having to enter an actual review.

OK, a small complaint. How do I edit a previous post? I just tried to correct an obvious typo in the last post (should have been ADD a new topic) and no icon for editing. Also, I am not still logged in, but had to reenter my username and pw to write this, and cannot click on somebodies name to see their info. I guess I will have to learn the new logon/logoff procedure which I have not seen a reference to.

    Stephen ? HELP !!!

I like the Roadfood.com team picture, but I have a (stupid?) question. There are 7 people in the picture, and 6 are identified by name. Is the other person that infamousLurker?

Looks too fancy for a diner site... seriously though, great job.

Edit: I noticed in the reply screen that when you scroll through the other responses, everyone's "rank" (cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, etc.) and post count is missing. Was this the case previously?

If you edit a message by catching it when it comes up again while you are using the Back button, it will appear as a different message. (This is a Test, and only a Test, folks. Do not panic. In a real Emergency, everyone should go to their storm cellar. )

Thank you Stephen for at least temporarily solving the sign-in and editing problem. I have now editied this old post.

The "jump to last post" button (little arrow on the right) still doesn't work for me. I was hoping it would start to work after the upgrade.

Does it work for anyone else, or is it just me?

Stephen- the site looks fantastic! Great update! I think the timing of the update was done to mess with Al The Mayor's eye surgery. Now, he'll really think he couldn't see the site well...it looks completely different than before the operation!
