Slicing Meatballs.....

I didn't know where to post this....but here it is. This may seem simple too some but this is something I have been working at for a couple of days. What is the best way to slice meatballs into uniform pieces (slices)? I have used a standard commercial slicer, also a super sharp cooks knife. The sharp knives still tend to squish the meatball to some degree. My latest is to use an egg slicer but I broke two of the wires in it. My next attempt will be to slice them cold or even frozen then put them into the sauce to warm up. Maybe I need to add some binder ingredients to get them to be a little more firm?
 
I just wondered if there is a simplistic way of doing it that just hasn't dawned on me.

    If the meatballs are not too soft, you might want to try using a hard boiled egg slicer.

    Try this...hold the meatball with a fork, then use a serated knife to slice it...works everytime...unless the meatballs are very tiny...in that case, just use the fork, dip them in a nice sauce and pop them in your mouth.

    You can skip spaces to make them thicker

    Sliced meatballs are wonderful in lasagna.

    Altho not spicy enough for my taste they are also great on Pizza!

    Yeah.....  you are right!  I hadnt thought of that!  
    If it's one thing I cant stand........I cant stand BLAND food!  
    I prefer lots of spices in the things I eat!  That includes Cilantro in my Mexican food and lots of Garlic in others!
    Same thing applies to BBQ sauces....... must be tangy or spicy!  Things such as Mustard must also be hot  and not plain.

    Recently we have starting making various types of flat bread sandwiches at our restaurant. A meatball flatbread sounded appealing to the staff so figuring out the logistics of doing it right has begun.
    In order for it too be presentable to the public besides tasting great, it has to look great as well. Meatballs in their circular form don't do well at staying "put". So slicing them and laying them in a nice orderly fashion looks appealing.
    As well as looking for other applications for them. Reinventing yourself is an important issue when you are in this business.

    If the meatballs are cold they should slice fine with a sharp paring knife. I slice mine, heat in red sauce and layer for hoagies, lasagne, or pizza.......pnwc

    Consider making meat cubes using the same recipe, but forming them in an ice cube tray? Then it should be very easy to slice them evenly.

    Slice them cold and heat in sauce. When using sliced meatballs in lasagna there's no need to reheat prior to layering.

    You can make meat cubes from scratch: take your meatball mixture, make a flat, even layer of it in a sheet pan, then using a knife or heavy, sharp pizza cutter, slice through the mixture clear down to the pan; bake then again slice down your original slices to separate the cubes; lift them out with a slotted spatula to paper towels to drain, then use them however you like.

    I use the side of my fork...to slice it in two before I eat it...no problem

    I was shocked no one mentioned this yet.
     
    Use the electric carving knife that is hidden in the back of that junk drawer, that only comes out at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
     
    Hard or Soft it will slice right through those puppies
