Hey Everybody,

Decided to stop hijacking rollin wings thread with my day by day antics actually selling wings.

Toady is day 4. Got first shipment of actual commercial wings from sysco. Much bigger and nicer than the ones I was getting at store. Also only drummies and first joint. No tips. 10lb bags,2 bags to a case. approx 60 pcs per bag. Cost about .16 pc versus .20-.25 I was paying from store.

Problem is because they are bigger, wont fit as nice in my nacho trays. Getting next week foil round containers like would be used for Spaghetti from pizza place. Also includes lids. Will hold everything including cup of bleu cheese in a much more professional package. So what I save on the wings will be eaten up by the new containers so it balances out.

I can also use containers for lots of other things. Introduced a BBQ wing today and was just as popular if not a little more as not everyone wants Hot.

Asked my repeat wing buyers if they had any problems with the mess and they just smiled and said to keep the napkins coming. If someone is getting food and walking and just dropping bits and pieces of it along the way, seems kind of crazy to me.

As a note, the quiznos and the firehouse subs here in town have both closed up as of today. Maybe I should start making subs besides the cheesesteaks and meatball subs I already do.

I am a glutton for punishment . . . smiling all the way to the bank.

Instead of the expense of napkins, have you tried paper towels? I like the BBQ joints with a roll ona a dowl so they can just pull them off.

So are you frying the wings? How many did you sell day 4?

          day 4= 25 orders

          day 5= 16 HOT 13 BBQ

People say bad things about sysco but my sales rep went and got me the new containers, lids and souffle cups for dressing I needed and brought to me today. I wasnt supposed to get them till next wednesday. Good Guy.

EVERYONE commented on and really liked the new containers. Really liked the new flavor too. This is really suprising the hell out of me how easy and popular this is.

YES I AM FRYING THESE in the truck, NO I dont have the proper hood for this (Shhhhhh). Which brings me to a new problem; Ive got to stop making these before health dept catches me or put in a new hood and real fryers and lose a week redoing everything.

Thinking of expanding my little operation; Know of a truck about a hour away with proper size hood and even has a fryer in it that will need severe cleaning (good thing is the gas lines are in pace and electric has been run). I have a good amount of excess equipment in my shed to fill it out with a few more things I will need. Thinking of setting this up and having my daughter run it on one end of town (maybe expand into other flavors and types of chicken like nuggets and strips etc) while I keep my old truck minus the wings on the other side.

I think the wings are a real solid seller amd dont want to give them up and wonder if a second truck would cut into my established customers and just even the whole thing out. There is also the chance someone else could see whats going on and open a wing wagon of their own. Im becoming a victim of my own ambitions.

Guess im looking for some input from you all.

why do people rail against Sysco? I am looking to them as I start my venture. Is there something I should be cautious about?

some people hate anyone that is on top. Sysco is #1 so they are a target. I cant say enough good about them. I dealt with them in past 2 restaurants I ran and have used them on my truck now.

Did a kids softball tourney this weekend, check out what happened!

I LOVE BBQ wings. I am not a spice fan. Costco has awesome bbq wings from (I wanna say) Tyson? I don't know how cheap they are per piece but a bag of them is 10 bucks. Its the most mouth watering, yummy goodness ever.

                  Now 4 flavors-

                  HOT (not blazing)
HOTTER (this one is real hot)
BBQ (kinda sweet with a tang)
                  HONEY GARLIC (my favorite)

Any of the food wholesale companies are as good as the salesman that calls on you. My sysco rep is as good as they get, thats why I buy from them.
