In the August 2006 issue of Popular Science, page 83:
"When you just can't take another Cracker Barrel, go to Roadfood.com for reviews and photos of more than 1,000 roadside eateries across the country. You can even search for vittles by category -- including barbecue joints, clam shacks and sandwich shops -- or by food item."

Nice to see Roadfood mentioned anywhere. Popular Science was not a place I would have thought about.

Roadfood and Roadfooders ROCK!!
Yesterday's photo of that seafood chowder prompted me to go out and buy clams, shrimp and heavy cream (already had the halibut pieces for Chowdah and the butter, potatoes and onions)

I wish I had your skills. That picture just made me wish there was somewhere close by where I could get a good bowl of chowder!

I am on LI, but I have yet to find the kind of good chowder I find up in New England or other parts of the country. I am sure there are places, I just need to find them! But in general, I wish I had the ability to say "I feel like having..." and then go out and make it. Liking food but having limited cooking skills is a bad combo!

Tony, Let me let you in on how Lleechef actually functions... I have watched a lot of cooking shows (including hers) and have NEVER seen anyone who can take a couple of scruffy looking items and turn them into an amazing presentation of quality food the way she does. It would be like me telling a brain surgeon that I have a headache and them saying..."Let me Take a look for a minute, maybe I have something here that would help". I close my eys then wake-up with the mind of Albert Einstein, Beethoven, and Bill Gates all-in-one, in high gear!!! That's Lisa in action.... She is one hell of a 'cook'!

Speaking of Chowdah, I am from the Left Coast but I lived in Maine for a long time. I always thought it was fun to order Manhattan Style Clam Chowdah. The red kind.
Those Mainers always looked like someone broke wind in church.
My friend's wife said to me "Manhattan is that way-about 300 miles." I liked that.
