Smells like Carmines, your opinions please! Mon, 01/3/11 5:34 PM (permalink)
I started selling the Garlic Fries Saturday, sold a ton of them, the smell of garlic was fairly intense, like an Italian place, Carmines comes to mind. The thing I wonder about is whether the smokey wood smell my place usually has vs. a distinct garlic one, is going to alter customers perception of my BBQ. Any thoughts?

Ouch! I'd be a bit worried about that. I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

The lure of a good BBQ place is the wood smell.  My perception would be that anything that interferes with that is a negative.  Personally I love BBQ and garlic and my perception of your place is that it is devoted to BBQ.

I was always taught that you can never have enough garlic.  Maybe that's why I have so few friends

Look at it this way.  You are known for your Q, so this could bring in a whole new audience.

Guess you'll need a smoking area.

You won't be dissapointed. We've eaten there several times and have never had a bad menu item.  If it interests you at all, less than 10 miles north of Chubby's is Keystone Fireworks, just over the PA line on the outskirts of Gettysburg. They sell the good ones.  There's also an outlet mall near there as well.

I don't think the aroma of garlic would interfere with the fragrant smoke of barbecue at all.  It seems to me they pretty much go together.

Since I had my nose broken a number of times I don't smell so good --
-----------------so it makes no difference to me.

I was on a subway in NY after a big Italian dinner---everybody was standing reaching up to hold on---ya got the picture ---- it was August and the temp was maybe 112 or close.  Ya still gettin the picture? Subways ain't too cool to start with.

A lady is standin next to me in this crowded subway and says --You smell awful.  So I told her --I know it's because I got my nose broke 3 times.  How the hell that lady knew I couldn't smell good is a mystery.

But Joe Rogo is right ours is a distant relationship and will remain so
for the tempus fugits.  Or whatever..

Now as far as CTF goes-----Man, like, sell what's sellin Man---when it cools off fikker somethin' else.  In the meantime take the money and run.
