Meanwhile though, no one is answering my questions; where and when.  Does The Contingent need to charter a plane to Arizona?  Shall I mark off Memorial Day weekend on my calendar, or do you have some other date in mind.

As far as I know, the date Jim gave us is May 26th.  The place is Pewaukee. No chartering needed.

Ann,

Anything that happens to find its way from Grasch's Prime Meats Case to your trunk will be welcomed.

We usually tell folks to bring their favorite adult or non-alcoholic beverage to share.  We ended up with some awesome sodas last time.  My boys are each in culinary school, so I expect they'll each want to make something (they invited classmates and instructors).  I've found that we always have more food than can be consumed, but if you have a can't-miss dish (non-dessert) don't be shy about bringing it.

CSD and everyone else,
In looking at that list, It begs the question-----When is a Sausage Combination no longer a Bratwurst??
While some of those sausages look really enticing, and I'm sure they are tasty, can they be classified as Brats???
Pure Brats are traditionally made with pork or a pork/veal mix, and almost as tasty (although not as authentic) with beef and spices like Salt & Pepper, Coriander, Marjoram, Paprika, etc. Once you start adding stuff like spinach and pepperoni and cheese and tomatoes can you still morally and with good conscience call it a Brat? I say it's BLASPHEMY to call such creations Bratwurst!!!
The first documented evidence of the Bratwurst in Germany dates back to 1313, and can be found in the Franconian city of Nuremberg,[2] which is still an internationally renowned centre for the production of grill sausages. If one were to show up there with a Sundried Tomato Bratwurst, they would be put in a stockade and flogged with it!

I agree that there is a point when a "brat" is not a bratwurst. It makes good marketing, though. I've been disappointed most of the special flavored brats that I've tried.

FBM,
I will not engage in an analysis paralysis of what constitutes a brat according to  definition. That is not my contention of the products that I will provide for Smoke Day. For those who intend to sample them, I'll let them make their own decisions. For me, the moment my teeth broke the natural casing of these new products, a tingling exhilaration burst ecstatically upon my taste buds, unlike that of any other encased meats I've experienced and for those who wish to experience a similar sensation, I'm just the messenger.

While I did concede that they might be tasty, look inticing and certainly worthy of consumption, I just question if they deserve the title of a Brat?. As suggested, let the attendees decide for themselves!
