Smoked Mullet

Does Aaaaaaanyone here know of any place that you can get smoked mullet around the Tampa Bay area? There used to be loads of wonderful little smokehouses/restaurants that specialized in smoked mullet for years, and years. The wife and I are going down there in May and wanted to know if y'all had any idee about it...

Anyone know of any still smoking mullet down there?

I swear there's a Billy Ray Cyrus joke here, but I'm having trouble deciding on one...

You often see it being sold on the street around here, but I'd advise getting it at a more reputable establishment like Ted Peters or Skipper's Smokehouse.

Skippers is OK. You want to take a drive down to Cortez, FL (Bradenton). It is worth the drive. Head down I-75, and exit at SR-70. Take this all the way out until about 1 mile from the beach. On the weekends, on the south side of the road at the post office, is the best smoked mullet you will ever have. Mullet put Cortez on the map! This small mullet stand has the best mullet, and they smoke it for long time, gently over buttonwood. It is awesome. Hot, huge fillets for $3. You want the best, head on down to Bradenton. The beach is nice too.
