Smoked potato stuffed w/ BBQ............. Fri, 03/31/06 10:53 AM (permalink)
There was a picture of a smoked potato from Wilson's BBQ in Ok. on the homepage today. That reminded me of how good a baked or smoked potato is stufed w/ some good BBQ.

One of the very popular food items at the HUGE Canton First Monday Trade Days in Canton Tx., between Dallas and Tyler, is a potato place that lets you order it stuffed w/ your choice of stuff including BBQ. I bet they sell thousands of taters every day they are open. 100s of folks siting around eating them at any given time. It's fun to just walk around and see how people ordered their spuds.

A smoked potato seams like a good menu item at any BBQ place. Stuff it or just eat it on the side w/ some good butter..... mmmmmmmm. What say you BBQ folks?

    I sell these in my place and it's the one item I can never get a handle on. One day we may cook 10 and not sell any and the next we cook 10 and could have sold 50. Also, I don't limit it to just beef. We have several around that love turkey or pulled pork with theirs. It's been rumored that some places actually have you call in that morning and reserve your potato. We sometimes get those calls.

      Quite a few places I frequented in Florida had them on the menu, and the place in Maine that I kinda lived at, also had them...
      I rather my Q on a bun or a plate, with a spud on the side.

        Yep, I like mine on the side also Roossy.

        Slick, there has got to be a way to solve your potato problem, maybe?

            I found a Barbeque in Cullman ... http://www.johnnysbarbq.com/ Only there once, BUT;
            What everone was eating was Jumbo Baked Potatoes, stuffed with Pulled pork or chicken.
            I found the place in a AAA guidebook, before internet access. I've also duplicated the
            these several times, every year getting a 50 lb. box of #1 Idaho Bakers and a Boston Butt

            Copied from my posting back in 2003 ....
