Smoothie stuck on back of blender Mon, 02/1/10 10:22 AM (permalink)
Anybody make smoothies at their biz?? Is it normal to have to scoop out the smoothie from the blender??

i don't make 'em...i have purchased plenty, tho, and they never have to scoop them out of the blender.

i think your ratio's are off - should have a little more liquid in them.  these are smoothies; not shakes (which should, ideally, be pretty thick).

sorry, was in a rush earlier and didn't relay all my thoughts...

are you using soft-serve or frozen yogurt??

if soft-serve, you may be using one of the higher milk-fat content types - just go with one that is a bit lower (will cost less, also thus bringing higher profit) and that should do the trick.

if you're using frozen yogurt, i don't know what to say - that should be plenty liquidy enough as is.  maybe too much banana?

The answer is NO, mix it longer, add more liquid or get a better blender.

IC Man I use a Vita Mix and I just went to the VM site and every thing on their list has some heart healthy BS ingredients, which I won't sell do you have any really good recipes for me? I would like to sell 3 different smoothies (choc...Vanilla....Strawberry) at events this summer and I want to keep it simple. As a last resort I'll go with the Island Oasis mix I guess.

              Sorry I don't.
We tried a few mixes and fresh fruit but they don't sell enough here to bother with. All they seem to want in my area are shakes.
I keep fruit bars for the non dairy people, they come out of Florida through a distributor up here. They also have smoothie base, just add ice cream or ice. The reason I buy the fruit bars, they are all fruit and really good. Even then I only sell about a 1000 a season.

Sorry that leads to the Ontario site, I know they're made in Florida.
I used to have that site but I can't find it at the moment.

Dr, here is a recipe for the oranje julius taste just like it. Just change the name.

6 oz. can frozen concentrated orange juice
1 cup milk - low fat works
                      1 cup water
                      1/4 cup granulated sugar
                      1 tsp. vanilla extract
                      Ice to your liking

                      Blend

You can still find the 6 oz cans of orange juice. I just bought some as I make this regularly

I Have to play with this a little bit but it is great thank you again. I think I may serve it at a St Patrick's Day Party Event, color it green. Maybe at the SPD party add a spring of mint? Orange mint should go well together?NO?
