I'll make a vote for all the little boxes of Nabisco cookies I loved as a kid-Chocolate snaps, vanilla snaps, lemon snaps, ginger snaps, chocolate chip--man they were great!

Back about 30 years ago, I was in a nearby department store with my mother. Looking around the candy rack, I came upon two flavors of LifeSavers I had never seen before - sour cherry and sour lemon. The rolls were maybe twice the length of regular LifeSavers rolls, and the cherry package had photographs of cherries on it, and likewise the lemon. I bought a package of each kind, and LOVED them. They had a different flavor - not the sugary sweet of the regular 5-fruit LifeSavers, and not the extreme, face-twisting sour commonly found today. I have never seen these varieties of LifeSavers again, even at that same store, which has long since gone out of business. But if I could I would buy several cases of each.

Ooh! Ooh! fancy Fruit Life Savers! My fave; they were the best. Lessee, apple (not green), blackberry, coconut, tangerine... am I right? Which flavor am I missing? And while I'm on the subject, why'd they have to mess with the original 5-Flavor lineup? Arrrrgh.

Every time I travel to a different state/area, I always stop at a grocery store to see if they have, by chance, lemon flavored ginger snaps. I believe they were made by Murray and came in a light brown bag (inexpensive). They were one of my favorites! Of course, the Mars Bar was one of my favorite candy bars.

At the movies, there were some fruit flavored firm jelly-like drops that I can't remember the name of. They were very small, with an indentation in the center of each one. They were much smaller than Dots, similar but much firmer. Anyone remember them? Barney

Cool! The fact that the wrapper had a different design from the ones you see everywhere and that the roll was so much longer than usual makes me wonder if perhaps they were made to sell in another country, like maybe Britain or Canada - but I have googled British and Canadian candy and found nothing. Same with the LifeSavers website.

Tell you what - If I ever find a way to buy a case or two (or twelve, twenty, whatever), I'll split them with ya!

Speaking of Jello pudding pops, does anyone remember the Gelatin pops? The cherry ones were the best. I also miss the Piccadilly Jellies cookies, they were delicious. There are so many items that people have mentioned that bring back a lot of memories, but a lot of the items listed I have still seen available. I just bought a bag of Taco flavored Doritios and a lot of the candy bars and candy mentioned are still available in my area. One that I remember from when I was a little girl was the Marathon Bar, they were huge and tasty, but not available, nor seen in a long time.

I, too, vote for the Marathon bar.

I would add:
Shaq Bar
Reggie Bar (Reggie Jackson's candy bar from back in the day)

And most of all, what the heck happened to the Peter Pan peanut butter eggs at Easter? I loved those, but have not seen them for the last couple of Easters.

I saw Pudding Pops yesterday and it made me think about this thread. They had them at Aldi's.

Now somewhere else on another thread were mentions about Morton's frozen donuts. I remember them fondly. But does anyone remember Pillsbury donuts? They came in a Poppin' fresh type tube and you had to cook them in --hot oil!!! I suspect that they went off the market after too many splatter burns to the skin and at worst, kitchen fires.

The absolute first things that popped into my head:

1) Marathon candy bar - lots of votes already
2) Spap Oop - also lots of votes
3) Great Shakes - powder you mixed with milk in this ultracool shaker cup - it had a great fitting, perfectly shaped lid you could hold on well and was the ultimate little tool for chocolate milk. Great Shakes came in chocolate and vanilla and tasted just like a really good milk shake, but was frothy rather than thick. Awesome stuff!
4) Keebler chocolate cookies - simple Oreo-style chocolate cookies with chocolate icing. The BEST cookies ever!

This is my first post and I had to reply as well. I second the list two up from Diner-Lover.
My absolute favorite dessert of all time is Sara Lee Banana Cake. It is heavenly banana, sugary goodness!
Unfortunately it is only sold to consumers in the Chicagoland area for some reason and no longer in the rest of the US.
I even contacted Sara Lee to get them to send me a case (only 6 cakes) and they nixed it. Grrr.
Apparently if you have a tax ID for a restaurant and a food supplier with a contract with Sara Lee (all of which I do NOT have :() you can order the commercial version which is the same except fr th pretty picture of cake on the box, I think.

I LOVED the snack mix they put out - JUST the right blend of salty, sweet and smoky....the bacon crackers were the best!
