Divefl, I miss those poptarts! And just like you said, they make all those new similar-sounding flavors but they're just not the same.

Ice Cubes are still around. I usually find them at convenience stores sold by the cube.
You can buy them online. Here is a link:

Enjoy.

You can still find sky bars in candy stores. Not necessarily the ones in the mall.

I've seen Skybars at a few candy counters in my area of northeastern PA, and here's a link I found that compares Skybars to the now extinct 7 Up Bars:

So that's what those were? All this time people have been mentioning them, I thought it was an actual candy that tasted like 7-Up soda!
I don't think I hav ever seen this.

This snack is still available, but most parents and kids do not consider it a snack. Most people call it celery and it still can be found in the produce department.

I'm going to guess you became an IRS auditor or DMV administrator.

Act II microwave fries. only mic fries that really got crisp.
Tastykake Butter Kreme TandyTakes.
Puffa-Puffa Rice cereal.

and i'll second the Danish Go Rounds!

anyone have Nabisco Bacon Flavored Thins in their region? they come and go from Florida but it's been awhile and i'm afraid they're gone. i did used to see them on the west coast even when we didn't have them here. i'm hoping the same might be true of the Act II fries.. we get the rest of their line here, just not the fries, which i haven't seen anywhere in my travels.

i do remember 7-up bars, they were like Sky Bars, which had different kinds of creme filling in each nub.

oh and i noticed someone here mention Amish country, does anyone from that area see ValleyMaid potato chips anymore? i grew up in Philadelphia and visited recently for the first time since the 70's, craving a bag of ValleyMaid chips from the local deli (that was still there!), but all they had was Herr's now. which are great but not even close to ValleyMaid. the two used to be rivals and it looks like Herr's won out.

"lasts a good long time.." i totally remember..

and cool thanks for the heads-up on Bacon Thins, yay :)

someone mentioned Regal Crown Sour Cherry? wow you guys really know the precious :) i used to get those at the shore when i was a kid, they had them at the check-out of this motel's coffee shop and i used to get them whenever we ate there, just thinking about them gives me flashbacks..

oh, if you really want a Regal Crown flashback, sip on some POM Cherry Pomegranate juice. it's expensive but tastes for all the world like the liquid version of those candies. *exact* same black-cherryish flavour that makes you wince just a lil when you taste it. try it and see if i'm wrong! but it'll make you crave Regal Crown's even worse :)

I still dream about Bonomo's (vanilla) Turkish Taffy. And, when I was a kid growing up in NYC during the 40's and 50's I remember a little chocolate chip cookie with a "swirl" top baked by Sunshine Baking Company in Long Island City. Anyone from the NYC area in their fifty's or sixty's remember those cookies?

If you google Cadbury Curly Wurly, it's a dead ringer for the old Marathon bar and many companies are importing them in from overseas.

I liked those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pies in the 90's. They were a green shelled pie and had a custard filling or something. I just remember they were tasty. I'm probably the only one that ate them lol

You can still buy drumstick ice cream cones in the Pittsburgh, PA area and Spree candy, and I think Wacky Wafers. There is a candy store called Baldinger's on Rt 19, about 30 miles north of the burgh, right before the intersection of 528 and Rt. 19. They have a huge variety of candy from the past.... boston baked beans, lemon heads, charms pops, clark bars, spree and sweet tarts, laffy taffy. If you are ever in the area, this is definitely a place you will want to go to. They do not have a website though.

I wish they would bring back:

Ice cream gum (sold in sticks)
Chum Gum (sold in sticks)
Big Daddy Gum (sold in rope like around 10" long, in all different kinds of flavors, my favorite was the green apple and grape)

My favorite snack was Corn Diggers (Nabisco)
If anyone who works at Nabisco is reading this, this is a snack I would just love to have back. I think they could become a popular snack again

I found out Choco-lite bars are now called Aero Bars, in Canada, and you can buy them from a website called http://www.candydirect.com/bars/Aero-Bars-162-oz.html
Check it out... there are many favorites from the past there that you can buy on line.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, but you can still find Marathon candy bars. They come from the U.K. they are called Cury Wurly, they can be found @ Cost Plus or any british food store.

I'm surprised none of you female types alluded to the scene in 13 Going On 30 where Jenna and Matt (as adults) went to the store for a package of Razzles to split, like they did as kids, and both went absolutely bonkers when they actually found a store that carried Razzles. That's one of my personal best scenes from romantic movies, beaten only by the scene in Katz's Deli from When Harry Met Sally.

Bonomo's Turkish taffy...French Chew isn't quite the same..
Forever Yours Bar, A dark Milky way...I don't think Milkey way Dark is the same....and the Original Three Musketeers that broke into 3 sections.."The bar big enough to share with your friends!" originally it came with 3 flavors!! And of course, Cocoa Marsh Chocolate syrup...and its pump dispenser....

wow lether, that's the first post on here that taught me something i didn't know.. i'm 45 yeqars old and never saw the 3 Musketeers variety you mentioned. and i started eating them at a pretty young age. also never heard of Cocoa Marsh.. was that chocolate marshmallow flavorued?

on a related note, i miss the original variety pack of Carnation Instant Breakfast, with Chocolate Marshmallow as one of the flavours.

my most missed of all time remains the Tastykake ButterKreme TandyYakes, though..

No..Cocoa Marsh was just another rival to Bosco or Hershsey's. See some of the Cocoa Marsh threads here at Roadfood. It was delicious syrup and I miss it. I'm not old enough at 62 to remember the three flavors in the three pieces of Three Musketeers, but I do remember the 3 divisions, but by my time, the flavors were all the same filling we're used to today, even if the bar was flatter and wider.

That's all true, but the problem is: on my best day, I'll eat two smores. I don't need a bag of marshmallows minus one or two drying before I want another smore, so bring back the one~at~a~time kits.

I think Russel Stovers has started making the kits or a preassembled smore

I've seen them at Quality Candy. It's egg shaped with a cracker bottom, and the marshmallow is reminiscent of fluff (remember the Fluffernutter sandwich?). Not bad, but not as much fun as making your own, no matter how you do it, IMHO.

Taco-Bell branded Doritos, loved those, no longer available. My husband misses the "original" Mars Bar. I actually ordered some from England a couple of years ago (way expensive) in hopes it was the original, and it wasn't. Also miss the chewy cherry cough drops, can't remember the name, had a bunch of guys on the box cover.

I have never understood why Summit bars were taken off the market. They had an offer back in the summer of '81 for free Top 100 pop 45s if you mailed in 15 wrappers. Let's just say that I got a bunch of records from that deal! Now with the continued popularity of Twix bars, it's time for Summit's triumphant return.

I still see Zero and Munch bars, Tahitian Treat, and Keebler Grasshoppers in stores, though. I'm sure their availibility varies from state to state, though... Chris

My favorite wax candy was the tongue. It was red and when it was fresh and soft it had the most lively and satisfying flavor and chewing consistency. They were hard to find in the 50s. They were better than the more common wax lips. You would think that the lips and the tongue would be made out of the same recipe, but I maintain the tongue was different and better.

Until the early '80s, Sara Lee made two products that I loved; the chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting, and the frosted chocolate brownies. Both came in aluminum foil pans. Wish I knew why Sara pulled the plug on them; I still miss them both.

I would guess, and this doesn't even count as an educated guess, that the aluminum pans made packaging costs prohibitive.

I tried doing a search to see if I posted in this thread already, but I'm doing something wrong.

Summit candy bars. We would always tape one to the top of a birthday present before we'd go to birthday parties.

O'Boisies potato chips, both flavors

Sharkleberry Fin, Great Bluedini, Raspberry, Blastin Berry-Cherry Punch Kool-Aid

Cheeze Kurls  http://www.taquitos.net/snacks.php?snack_code=3277 used to make a chicken flavored cheeze kurl. I am not making this up. They were in a blue bag with the CK logo & Walgreens had em back in the 90's. Delicious.

Jumpin Jack Cheese Doritos, Chester's Cheese Doritos, and the Original Taco Doritos from the 70's. I don't care that they have them now. They do not taste the same.

Gum: Cherry Cola, Raspberry, Paradise Punch, Orange, Blueberry, Paradise Punch, Pink Lemonade. Bubblicious, Hubba Bubba & Bubble Yum owned me & my allowance money in the 80's.

Keebler Krunch Twists

Tidbits

Hi-C Hula Cooler & Candy Apple Cooler

Oreo Big Stuff

Bar None candy bars

S'mores cereal (in the yellow box, not the stuff in the blue box they have now)

Fruit Bars, made by the company that made Fruit Roll Ups. Tropical flavor.

Cookies & Creme Twix

Fanta Red Creme soda

Choco Bliss

Magic Middles cookies, they had a gooey fudge center

Pudding Pockets, cupcakes you could make with a pudding center

Bake A Bar granola bars

Stir & Frost cakes

How could I forget Tangy Taffy? It came in this big chewy pink swath. We used to get them to share @ Great America. You had to peel the label off very carefully because it would stick.

Pepperidge Farm's Brownie Nut Cookies...rich n rather dry, and damn good!
Speaking of brownies: Brownie's chocolate drink- Used to buy them in a can from a vending machine, ice cold...in a building, across the street (from my building)...for a quarter(summer of '77?)!
Yup, those were the days!!! *sigh*

there was a Brownie here in South Florida in the 80's called Rachel's Brownies, also rich-but-somewhat-dry - moist but not sticky, a totally unique consistency, like crumbs all stuck together, no frosting but little nut pieces. totally addictive, used to get them at EZ-Kwik Kuntry Store in Coconut Grove. they also made blondies that were called Rachel's Husband's Brownies that had a mild butterscotch flavour, also excellent.

Candy bars, ice cream, chips, sodas, breakfast treats--all welcome here.
If only MM/Mars, Hershey, Frito-Lay, Kellogg's, etc would read these posts!

Dorito's Taco flavored chips

all I can think of now...but suggestions welcome

Well Dorito's has brought back the Taco flavored chip so that's 1 on your list that I know of.

Hey, is there a black market for the trans-fat Dorito's, as of yet?
@Susan28: You just earned your brownie points; now so rightfully feel free to pig-out on them...while hastily utilizing all four limbs!

Kraft Philadelphia Cheesecake Singles...especially the brownie swirl flavor.
Kellogg's Cinnamon Bun Mini Swirls
O'Boisies and Toststadas(?)...I'm not sure of the name, but they were a Keebler product with a buttery, cinnamon-sugar flavor that was ammmazing.
Dairy Queen low-fat/fro-yo...thusly bringing back the Breeze...all the flavor, half the guilt!

Keebler Almond Sandie Cookies (they're using every other kind of nut, what happened to the almond ones!?!);

Almond Cluster Bars;

the complete line of Godiva Ice Creams (stupid disagreement between Canadian company and American company caused company that was producing these to be shut down);

Sunshine Golden Raisin Bars AND the cranberry ones that were out a very brief time. Bet they would be a hit now;

Cranicot (Cranberry-Apricot Juice) from Ocean Spray (not a snack technically, but loved the taste).
