I have an addition to my last posting... Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Cookies. They came in a bright yellow bag, and I think they were made by Keebler. Not chewy, but more on the crispy side, and extremely chocolatey.

Girl Scout cookies were originally made by Educator. There were also cookies sold under the Educator name. Educator was eventually sold, I believe, to Burry's. I don't know when "Little Brownie" came in.

EatingTheRoad BelleReve Mars Bars - are they around but under a differenet name? Reese's whipped pb bar - that hasn't been around very long, but can't find it now. Mars Bars = Milky Way http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Bar ...and your Reese's Whipped PB Bars are still around too.. http://www.hersheys.com/reeses/products/whipps.asp Not sure why you can't find 'em, I see them all the time. Actually Mars Bar=Snickers with Almond "Chocolate bars sold as the Mars bar vary in different regions of the world. [1] The American version (discontinued in 2000) [2] is no longer sold, and has been replaced with the slightly different Snickers Almond. "

I miss the original american version also. Wonder if any of the other countries have one similar to the old USA Mars bar?

Thanks Eating.., and others - I remember another candy that was was supposed to be similar to a Mars bar, but could't remember the name. I've just about giving up finding the whipped Reese's, maybe it's only distributed in certain areas.

Not quite "snacks" but.... ...and Trader Joe's had this amazing carrot cake loaf in a blue tub (in the freezer section)...it's not the one they carry now, which is still good. But man alive, that other one was amazing...it was hard not to eat the whole loaf. I think the last time I saw it was 7 years ago or so.

Cola Gummies that looked like soda bottles. I have seen them every now and again but not in my region (Alaska.) I think that they are made by Haribo. David O.

Hydrox are back!!! Hard to find though, I saw them once at the supermarket...then they were gone. http://www.slashfood.com/../07/10/hydrox-are-back/ ...actually maybe not...I just found this: On the cookie's 100th anniversary, Kellogg's resumed distribution of Hydrox under the Sunshine label, with the first batches shipped in late August 2008. Hydrox aficionados had bombarded Kellogg's with thousands of phone calls and an on-line petition asking that production resume. The recipe was slightly altered from the original; trans-fats were removed. The cookies were to be available nationally for a limited time, and less than a year later Kellogg's had removed Hydrox from their web site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrox What about Keebler Tato Skins!? The ultimate would have to be the fried McDonald's apple pies though!

They were sold and subsequently disbanded. but Eagle Brand snacks, an 80's and early 90's subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, were just great. Good pretzels, great snack mixes, and my favorite, they had potato chips that were deliberately cooked longer than others, the whole bag was the "brown" chips. Fabulous!

....but they never left...they're one of my favorites....a nice buttery fluffy Snickerdoodle...mmmm.... Ingredients 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons white sugar 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon Directions 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). 2. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. 3. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. 4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets
