Sno-Balls in Florida?....

There is a little freestanding building of sorts in the Merritt Island Home Depot shopping plaza that I have passed a million times and always said "I must stop there and check it out".. So, this is the Sno-Hut...... Well today, I met John.. funny Italian guy who owns it. Super guy, that is a smile a minute..... Made me laugh the whole time I was there. He was telling me that his biz is down about 40%.. "sigh"... thats so rough on the little guy..... I saw he carries Nathans dawgs, which I love..... He didnt have the Nathans fries ( ), but carries "Boardwalk" fries... So.. I got a couple dogs, he puts them in the little fryer, which is one of those self contained ones, that you see in some of the airport lounges..... So, I got a couple "rippers', some fries and an canned iced tea for $6 bucks.. He had the malt vinegar and an apple vinegar also, which I am now kicking my butt for not trying! I was almost like being on the boardwalk at Old Orchard Beach Maine while I was eating them.. Love the vinegar and fries! Pretty tasty.. I could eat fries all day long!... Ate one weenie there while shooting the bull with him.. Gigi was in the car, so I had to give her a little bite for being patient in the sun.. (It was 81 today).."pant pant", and a couple cubes.... So, here are a few shots of the place... I almost got a sno-ball, but was afraid that my lips would be blue or bright red for a couple hours from the mix they use in the shaved ice....... John is good people, I am going to have to make that a regular stop from now on......

Can I assume that this means you didn't make it down to Melbourne to try Rolli's today?

Ok I looked but did not see pickle as a flavor. Not that I would try it but have heard this is a big seller. Have had two people tell me that is their number one flavor. But the dogs look good. Dill Pickle Flavor so you all don't think I'm crazy http://www.1-800-shaved-ice.com/flavor-list.html

sk bob Ellen, are you thinking about cheating on your new boyfriend already? He bought you steak at Longhorns, this guys only got hot dogs & sno- balls. It's not all a bed of roses, as the new bf said his former gf moved back to NJ.. looks like I'm 2nd string right now... So, I'm trying to add a few more to my roster! And John's sno-balls are looking pretty good to me right now!

Good looking dogs and I think those Boardwalk fries are great. Wish they had them around here.

I may be around next Sunday. I fly home on Saturday - then driving over to Lakeland, but should be home by Sunday. As a matter of fact, I should probably spend some time in the office on Sunday - and that happens to be right around the corner from Rolli's!

Looking for some post rowing competition eats in Feb before swinging south to Miami for a conference. What else should I not miss in Melbourne? Pistilli's?

crew84row - Rolli's is on US-192 (New Haven Avenue), right across from the Melbourne Municipal Golf Course, just west of Airport Blvd (7-11 on the corner). It is a stand-alone building, situated right next to the parking lot for Florida Air Academy, a local boarding school. I have posted a number of places in this thread on Melbourne, FL. There is also a link within that thread to another site that lists a lot of places in MLB. I have not ever been to Pistilli's. My preferred pizza options when in that neck of the woods are Petrillo's and the original location of Bizarro's on the boardwalk. Both are on A1A in Indialantic - within a stone's throw of one another. Are you rowing in a race in Melbourne? I know that they do some races just a touch south of here at Canal 54.

I'm looking at doing the Southern Sprints indoor rowing event in early Feb assuming the business end of my trip gets approval. So Rolli's looks like a good stop coming or going to Florida Tech gym. Thanks for the links to other spots. I'll let the High School crew parents here know about Petrillos and Bizarros.

I think it has a crisper crust & I like their sauce better. It's in the shopping center at the NW corner of Murrell & Viera.

I live south of Melbourne, so anything north of Melbourne is a little out of the way for me. Sure, I travel up and down the highway occasionally, but it is usually with a purpose. Bizarro's and Petrillo's are already out of the way, but they are slightly more convenient to work, so I can grab a slice for lunch or a pie for take-home when I feel like it.
