Greetings, Roadfooders! I have discovered this american brand a few years ago at a shopping mall in the german city of Oldenburg. I prefer the sort " Cheddar Cheese". Do you like this snack? When they are av. I always buy a few packages... Do you have a recipe for such pretzel pieces, any information is very welcome, thank you. Kind regards Michael P.S. Price for one package (125 Gram) is about 2,00 Euro, as a special offer about 1,59 - 1,79 Euro.

Thanks, David! Is their brand name "Hanover" somewhat related to the german city "Hannover"...? Hannover: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanover What about some recipes.., for the Pretzels, how to prepare them...? Kind regards Michael

The reason you always see Snyder's of Hanover on the bags is because there is another potato chip and pretzel company in Berlin, Pennsylvania also called Synder: http://www.birdseyefoods.com/snyder/ They always call themselves Snyder of Berlin. Most people just eat snack foods like pretzels and potato chips right out of the bag by themselves or with a beverage such as beer. They don't do any further preparation work on them. However, a lot of these snack foods are used in recipes such as to make coatings for chicken, pork, etc.

the sourdough beer pretzels are good - especially with chunks of sharp cheddar cheese. also tasty are the pumpernickel sticks - again, very good when accompanied by some sharp cheddar.

Yeah, Snyders are the best sourdough pretzels in America! The original Europeans in Southeastern Pennsylvania were predominantly German, and that heritage is reflected in the culture. The oldest continually operating brewery in America is in Pottsville (Yuengling brewed malt soda during prohibition). The entire area is dotted with small pretzel and chip makers, all of whom thrive: Utz, Herr's, both the Snyders, Bachmann, Wege, Sturgis, Hammond, Deitz... See the pattern. Southeastern Pennsylvania is also known as Pennsylvania Dutch country. Lots of Stolfitzes and Leidys and Yoders live in the area. It is also heavily Amish.

I must agree...Snyder's sourdough are the best hard pretzels..this company(in the area of Pa where chips and pretzels abound) has the BEST pretzels by far of any brand I've ever tried! The factory tour sounds like a great future trip. We love taking the Herr's tour...their chips are super.

snyders 'nips' are pretty good, too and you can't beat gradma utz's handcooked chips (fried in lard, what an excellent flavor!! i used to LOVE bachmann pretzels - the only thin pretzels i'd buy - they've been out of business a few years now. really miss them - unique flavor that none of the others even come close to.

While I don't think Bachman's makes everything they sell themselves (I once bought Bachman Canadian-made potato chips at the Wyomissing outlet center), they still make the preztels themselves. This newspaper article has a 19-photo slide show showing pretzel production: http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=140063
