So Far This 4th weekend
Sat, 07/4/09 4:59 PM
( permalink)
I managed to get a 4 day weekend thanks to my sympathetic boss(Blythe). Here's what I have done so far, dodging the raindrops of course! All of our favorites Brats! Today's plan... Wild caught shrimp Pork & bison Teriyaki marinated filet mignon ends & scraps( I bought a whole one & butchered it myself) Lamb marinated in olive oil, garlic, fresh herbs. My kids helped themselves before I got to take pictures. But here are the finished results. First time for them tasting bison, they loved it. The wild caught shrimp, which I knew would be flavorful, they were really impressed with. I only basted them with butter. But, then, they are used to the farmed shrimp. The last two pictures are of a small beef brisket I did ( an experiment for me)I smoked it 3 hours this morning, on my Weber, wrapped it in HD foil and put it in the oven @ 200 for another 2 hours and then turned off the oven for 2 hours. I think it came out good! Moist and smokey. I will do a bigger one next time! Happy 4th everyone!!

Baah Ben Agnes - "You da girl!" Great pictures from Bergen County!!! Thanks!!! Thanks, Ben. I think my Bergen County neighbors think I'm nuts. I was out at 8:00 am yesterday starting the brisket. I can see several backyards from mine and they have very fancy decks and fancier gas grills. I almost never see them using them!

susanll Agnes - i have never tried lamb on kabobs. Do you marinate or not? Susan, Depending on what I feel like, I've done lamb on the grill with either just olive oil and s&p or sometimes I put the lamb in a ziploc along with olive oil, chopped garlic, s&p, fresh rosemary, thyme and oregano. I let it sit about an hour. In fact that also holds true when I'm doing lamb inside also. Except when I am doing lamb shanks in my crockpot.

Great job taking advantage of the long weekend, Agnesrob! I really need to get my feet wet with lamb and skewers look like a good way to do it. And Ernie's chicken is a reminder that I should get a rotisserie setup for my grills. Brad

Foodbme Great Spread! Where did you get the "Wild Caught Shrimp"? At my local Trader Joes. They were $9.99 for a one pound bag. I will be going back to stock up on them. I also get reasonably priced dry scallops there and wild caught salmon. Mmmm... salmon on my grill, maybe this weekend!
