Beautiful, CC! My parents always had a great garden when I was growing up and when they moved to where we lived, they inherited some grape vines! Such a nice memory of watching them grow and produce grapes.

Thank you very much. It is fun. My children take the baton this year...and I'm certain they'll do an amazing job.

I'll just have to come up with good toasts...and great Sangria.

I have 14 tomato plants in. I one black one, that one is the one I cannot wait to come in. Anyone else try these? Also various peppers and some green onions. Plus my herb box. Super fresh salsa  is in my future!

That sounds fun! Never grew black but I look forward to your experience with them.

It was sooooo hot here last week. Little tomato babies are starting to arrive...

I recently bought some containers for upside down tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers at Big Lots.  They were $1.00 and all they require is top soil, plants, minor assembly and hanging them.  They come with support wires and a hanger which appears very sturdy.  I use Miracle grow potting soil that has fertilizer already added that is suppose to last four months.  I suppose after a while, I will add some more Miracle Grow.

The advantage is they get watered from above and the nutrients go straight to the roots. Also very Important, no weeds.
The attached shows them for sale at $5.44 but they were $1.00 each at Big Lots.  You will get abundant fruit.

The Mayor has got me beat with hands down with his orchard.  I wish I had started mine about ten years ago when he did and now they would be bearing fruit.

Unfortunately, we don't have a garden but have huge terra cotta pots full of flowers and lots of herbs in pots.  Our front and back yards are VERY shady so tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, etc. would not do so well.  But we have a U-Pick farm a couple of miles away.........I picked strawberries last week.  They were divine.  And in a few weeks we'll start getting Ohio tomatoes, corn, peaches and lots of other vegetables and fruit.

Hi, Paul - I bought two 'bags' at our new .99 Only store and planted two Romas. They grew weirdly [i.e. UP!], and got mildew because we left town and had to rig up some water, but it was too much. But I have two ugly plants full of almost ripe Romas. This is so coo. It works. !! We filled the bags halfway, put in some long-release fertilizer, and filled the rest. Harvesting  starts tomorrow!

A lot of folk have not had success with these, but we did. Ahh, tomatoes.

Too much rain here. The coldest wettest spring in 100 years, and March - April was really dry. I had very poor germination on supersweet corn that was direct planted.... I've replanted 3 times....but the earliest supersweet started in the greenhouse and transplanted is doing great.  The tomatoes are very lush with lots of baby fruit,,,,,,,,,so if I avoid the blight, I'lll have tomatoes. The potatoes are doing very well, especially the new Huckleberry Gold spuds that I am looking forward to.

I had 2 x 3 gallon buckets of blackberries to process and now I just got back from a local guy who has 10 acres of strawberries.  His Mexican crew cant pick them fast enough.

$5 for an over loaded flat, I got 3  :-)

The green beans are coming in strong a neighbor left my 4 walmart bags full of them on the door step, so now i need to get a new foodsaver machine (mine went poof)

before long about 2 weeks the local peaches should be coming on strong, I had some early season cling peaches, that were so juicy...
I like the clingfree varieties tho

I am making jams and preserves almost every night and now have to make green beans and get them ready for freezing.

Strawberries are gone here but Grainger county field grown tomatoes will soon be available.  I have my own peaches and crème corn and I will not need to buy any.  I will but a case of their tomatoes though.  We (Mamaw Smith) will can them into tomatoes for further use and tomato juice.  Great by itself but perfect with bloody Mary's.  Looking forward to see what my upside tomato planter will do.

Well here in Florida we are now in our "Dante"s Inferno" time of year and the gardening is about done until Sep. I do have some tomato's and peppers hanging in there so hopefully I'll get a few more. My upside down tomato plant is about 8' "tall" but has given me all of 2 fruits in the 4 months it's been growing.

Bill
That is not a garden.  It's a farm!  I see a lot of squash blossoms in that patch.......ever pick them, wash, dunk in batter and deep fry?  Delicious!  I used to do that with pumpkin flowers (they're larger, more to eat).
I guess L'il Pork Chop and his lady friends are gonna eat well!
