Dean, Thanks for the review of the beverages at Sonic!!! I repeat that I don't go out of my way for the food at those places...but the Slush and the 'Ades' especially the cherry-lime is outstanding....and wait til you have one on an August day!! Always go for the Hiway 44 size (the big one), and if possible, time your stop for between 2 and 5 pm on a weekday for the 'happy hour' half-price special. On long roadtrips that works for us often!

Probably would go against their whole concept but I would go sometimes if they had an inside dining room. Just don't care much for the eating in the car thing.

Sonic makes excellent burgers and coneys, but their onion rings are a travesty. They used to be delicious and clearly made on the premesis. Now, they are laden in some thick batter that tastes like the same batter they use on their corn dogs. I love Sonic, but I'll skip the sides.

Sundancer, Once when traveling I had one of their breakfast sandwiches. The good side was it was generous in size, did't look like it popped out of a mold, one of a kind so to speak. Down side, was a bit greasy for me. Just over the line. I'd give the breakfast another try.

I think that Sonics is one heck of a lot better than most of the fast food hamburger joints. Also, the service that we have gotten is excellent. I really feel that you get your money's worth here if you have to eat at one of these places. (At least the hamburgers do taste like burgers and not double cheeseburger pucks, and the drinks are great.)

There are days when only a Sonic bacon cheeseburger w/mustard will do. We're also fans of the Rt44-sized cups of ice, too. Don't care for the fries, tater tots, or onion rings, but the drinks are fine. Breakfast is nothing special, a tad greasy.

No Sonic in DC, but I've been to lots of them in S.Virginia and south. Never had a bad Sonic experience. Ever.

None here local but have been to them. The cherry lime aids are really good, the food on the otherhand is somewhat overrated. Pretty good though at least for a large chain.

I think it really depends on the individual franchisee on quality. There are some who are sticklers on quality and I've managed to find a few that are owned by the same person with high standards. It's too bad they don't have more strict compliance because they do make good burgers. Some that I've been to are inedible across the board. Some are very good from start to finish. You would think they would really crack down if they want to keep growing like they have been.????
