Has anyone ever been to the Soup Plantation? They were mentioned on a TV show last night, (The Big Bang Theory) and that made me curious about them. I went to their website and they seem to be a bit like Panera Bread. They're also not located in my state, (Michigan.)

On an unrelated note The Big Bang Theory is really funny.

They are owned by Sweet Tomatoes which we have in Illinois and are nothing at all like Panera. Sweet Tomatoes is basically a very well prepared and well stocked salad buffet. The buffet is probably 50+ feet long with a variety of ready made salads and a selection of loose varieties of lettuce, then come all the toppings you can dream of all chopped and very neatly presented. There are some cold salads like potato and a macaroni and then a variety of dressings. You serve yourself as you go down the cafetaeria like line and then pay. Once past the salads there is a prep to order pasta bar, baked potatoes with various toppings and usually 5 different kinds of soups. The one near us is kept very clean and very fresh. Softserve ice cream and a variety of toppings make up dessert.

yes, i was watching big bang and noticed the reference too. down my way (florida) they are called sweet tomatoes and i really enjoy them. the salad is pretty awesome and great soups. i think its up to a choice of 7 soups now, they usually have a chili, and the shrimp bisque is very good. soups change daily i believe.
one of my favorite chains, and im not much of a chain lover

I watched that show last night and I assumed that it was a fictional name. Very surprised to hear that it is a real place!

I agree that it is a funny show.
