I went to a fantastic little festival over the weekend at Cumberland Gap, where TN, VA, and KY all meet. Pop pf the town is about 250. They had a heritage days festicval complete with some races, homemmade applebutter, homemade music, chili, and BBQ. Crafts, etc. Really a neat place. This is festival season. Anybody planning on going to a neat festival in the near future? carl reitz

Dearfolk, The annual BrewGrass Festival in downtown Asheville, N. C., which was rained out by one hurricane or another, is rescheduled for Saturday, October 30. If I am able to sell enough books to afford to make the trip, I'm going. It sounds like fun: lots of good microbrewery and brewpub beers, bluegrass and old-timey music, and interesting food. Tip-sily, Stone Sober Ort. Carlton in 30601-Central.

There's a little festival in Georgia called the Redneck Games (Dublin, Ga) that was created about the time we got the Olympics in Atlanta; it involves games like the Hubcap Toss, Mud Diving, Bobbing for Pig's Feet, etc and of course lots of good food. It gets bigger every year, and I've been dying to go, because I've heard it's a hoot, but it's held on the 4th of July weekend every year and the nature of my job makes it pretty well impossible to go down to check it out, dadgummit!
