Still Smokin' BBQ on Ohio State Route 32,  at the intersection of Eastwood Rd (Williamstown/Mt Orab border)  has just opened for the season once again. They are still open only from Thursday through Sunday. Tel 513 546 4810.

Poore Brothers kettle style potato chips  (made in AZ) are now available at all Sav-A-Lot stores in SW Ohio - these are my favorite kettle chips - they are offering 5 oz bags of original, bbq and and jalapeno flavors for $1.19 - I just found this out when I walked in their Georgetown OH store a short while ago.

I noticed on the way home from Troni's this past Thursday that Buck-A-Roos in Wilmington (formerly Stacey's/Duff's) was closed and the building is for rent.

The 68 Family Restaurant in Lumberton (think cinder block light blue building) has lost its unreadable sign to a windstorm and it has not been replaced but the joint continues to thrive with mainly local patronage.

One of my wife's co-workers knows Lee, and she said he had a couple of arm surgeries and has shut it down for the year. He said he plans to re-open next season.

EDITS: Sent an email to Lee last week, and he just replied tonight. He said he had surgery on both hands and a knee, so he's on the DL for the year, but they intend to return to the same spot next spring.

In Lebanon, the site of what used to be:
"Mighty Casey's"
"Wild Bill's"
"Silver Street BBQ"
"Lebanon Mediterranean Restaurant" (http://www.urbanspoon.com...an-Restaurant-Lebanon)

....  all closed...

Now an Indian place is opening in this space. Spotted when we were going to the Breakfast Club last week. I think the sign called it "A Taste of India". I may be wrong.

It seems like the life span of any place in this location is about 6-9 months. There is no parking except on the street or around the block. Not terrible, but not as convenient as locals here expect. That, plus the out of the way location at the edge of downtown seem to doom every place that tries this space.

looks like it will open pretty soon. tables all set up when u look in the windows, have seen a few people enter from time to time. I walk by it daily during work. I love the idea of an Indian place, but have the same trepidation u have for the location. Although I think a lot of that had to do with the food being subpar at least for the BBQ joint, never tried the other three. Hope everything turns out well , would love a good Indian lunch spot near work. Since my wife wont let us pick Indian for family dinners.

There's a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/LetsTalkLebanonOhio where there is a thread about "A Taste of India"  with a lot of speculation about the location and the new restaurant.

The fact is that this location has two whammies against it: no off street parking - not a big deal, but Lebanon consumers have zero tolerance for places without easy, next door legal parking. The other factor is that Silver Street is off the beaten path and is at the fringe of downtown and does not have frontage on any main drag such as Broadway, Main Street or Columbus Avenue.

On the plus side for this place - Indian restaurants are not generic/widespread like Chinese and there are none within 10 miles of Lebanon, yet Indian cuisine is mainstream enough that there ought to be good local demand.  We'll see.

I spoke to the owner yesterday.  Unfortunately, due to his health issues he will not be back operating his BBQ business anymore.

He did not say nor did I ask  -  whatever happens to the BBQ trailer it will not at the 32 location anymore.   I recall he told me sometime ago he spent a lot of time in Florida with the trailer

Dickey's Barbecue... moving into the Dayton and Cincinnati markets.

A new location just opened at the South Lebanon Target/Lowes shopping complex, near White Castle.

What's the verdict? Compare, say, to City BBQ.

We've got one very close to us on Ohio 125 a couple miles west of Amelia.

I think City is a pretty good comparison. They do brisket by the pound, which I like, and I really enjoy their sausage.

Both of those items should be good, though, as it's a Texas-based chain.

Best brisket in the tri-state right now, IMHO, is Hammann's Butcher Shop just south of Fairfield. Just Q'In takes second.

I'm partial to the "Burnt Ends" at Velvet Smoke myself. Thanks for the Hammann's suggestion, though. I have literally driven by it hundreds of times (and still go by it at least twice a week), but I would have never expected them to offer prepared meats. I'll check it out.

Our Lunchbunch group has been to the General Denver Hotel pub restaurant at 81 West Main Street in Wilmington several times recently and we have enjoyed it very much.  My personal favorites are their lamb burger, sweet potato fries  and  fried green tomatoes.  My wife loves their stuffed chicken and tomato bisque soup and asparagus, and their meatloaf.

We had them cater our wedding reception four years ago and people still talk about the brisket.

I think sometimes they do sandwiches on weekends, but I'd call or email ahead of time if you're going to pick some up to make sure they have it fresh.

I typically call in bigger orders (4 lbs. plus) and they give it to me warm in a catering-sized aluminum tin with barbeque sauce.

Just got a coupon for a place called the Feed Mill in Felicity. Looks like a home-cooking place with fresh desserts, the type of place I really enjoy.

Anyone know anything about it?

My wife and I have been a few times. On the up side, it's an extremely picturesque old bar. The quality of food has varied across the board. When they're very busy, we've found that it's not worth going - the quality really suffers. And we didn't like the outdoor seating (in warm weather, a huge a/c compressor is roaring out in the open right next to the patio.)
