Sorry, we don't even bother to call it by it's given name. If you want the sauce around here, it's called Salsa Inglesa. Calling it by any other name would bring blank stares. Salasa Inglesa by any name besides L&P is not Salsa Inglesa

I don't have many pet peeves ... BUT, if you are gonna use the stuff, figure out how to say it. (Even this only comes in at a 2 on the 10-scale.) I am with Don. One thing it isn't is "wherst-i-sh-shire."

Everyone knows what you are talking about if you say something that even vaguely sounds like that excessive string of consonants - something like the variety of spellings for that senate candidate in Alaska that reasonable people agree should be counted. Cheers, John

In England, it's often simply referred to as "wooster sauce", but with an appropriately local accent. Boy, do I ever love the stuff.

I don't know how to write it, and given regional dialects, it's likely to come out any number of ways regardless of whether it's correct or not. It's a whole lot easier to say Lea and Perrins, and everyone knows what you're talking about.

Lee and Perrins also offers Chicken marinade, Steak Sauce, low sodium Worcestershire sauce and, Thick Worcestershire sauce too. So just saying L&P might not get the job done. David O.

You can hear the local way of pronouncing it by listening to BBC Hereford and Worcester: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/herefordandworcester/hi/ Addendum: I'm listening to a repeat of today's Howard Bentham morning radio show. They are pronouncing it WUUS-tur-sheer.
