Special Permit Meetings for Home Depot Cart

I have a meeting this Wednesday with the planning zoning committee for my proposed Home Depot cart location. This small city will issue me a Special Use Permit. In two weeks I will meet with the city council there.

Anyone here ever went through this process?

I searched the net and found several references to this process. Some of their issues were sanitation and fire zones.

    Some things to consider:

    1. Propane carts are illegal for indoor use
    2. Cart must be required distance from propane storage/sales at HD
    3. Are Fire extinguishers required?
    4. Location of cart: distance from entrance/exit of bldg
    5. Distance from fire hydrant or loading zones
    6. Safe access to cart from traffic in lot(distance from road)
    7. Proximity to rest rooms
    8. Garbage cans
    9. Disposal of waste water from cart
    10.Customers bringing food into HD
    11.Sign ordinances
    12.Certificate of insurance for HD

How will you handle lighting when day light grows shorter? Will HD allow the use of your own lighting? If so, will they provide electricity? Do you have a place on site for disposal of waste water?

    Thanks for the input.

I will take to the meeting the following: Health permits, letter of commissary, insurance.

Thinking I will just answer their concerns; your list will cover it sounds like.

I went to the zoning/planning meeting last night and was approved. I have to appear in front of the city council in 2 weeks for the final vote.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. The property owner had some issues with the zoning board but not with me - whew!

The city council will vote at a public hearing next week. I will post the outcome.
