Has anyone tried the Spicy Pickle? Lots of locations in Colorado. Looking to make a trip to Austin to give these guys a shot, are they worth the gas from Dallas?

I don't know whether it's any good or not, but I really wish you would start a few more threads on the subject.

Sorry to rub you guys the wrong way here. That was not my intent. I did not realize there were so many forums when I got started. I have deleted in the other categories and would love to delete this one too. I thought this might be a good place to get an idea on whether these guys have a product that is noteworthy since you all seem to have visited so many places between all the folks on the forum. I guess I am in the wrong place for that. If you veterans know how to request that my post be deleted, please do.

You're in the right place Kim...I'm sure somobody has tried this place but hasn't seen your post yet. This appears to be a fairly large chain but none in my area.

          Good luck!

            Stick around, Kim.

The name intrigues me. What kind of chain is Spicy Pickle?

I think it is this? I have never been there or heard of the chain.

Kim, can you get Boar's Head cold cuts in Austin? That seems to be their "secret ingredient". Had a friend from Denver call me once to ask what I knew about Boars Head, a company (F. Brunkhorst) started in New York but having no more production facilities here. He said Spicy Pickle used their cold cuts. Boars Head is a quality brand of cold cuts.

Rand McNally says it is 195 miles from Dallas to Austin. If your local sandwich shops use nothing but rotgut cold cuts, you will definitely like Spicy Pickle. But if you can get good bread locally, as well as Board Head cold cuts, it will cost you much less to make your own. How much in gas and deprecitation on your car does a run to Austin cost you?

We are looking into this concept as a franchise. Yeah, we LOVE Boarshead products and get them here locally. I remember the days when my Pop Pop Al used to bring them home with him from summer trips back home to Yonkers. Both of my parents grew up in Yonkers. Anyways, the hot dogs don't taste as good as they did when Pop Pop brought them home wrapped in butcher paper, but they still beat the competition around here.

The sandwiches do use the meat and the combinations seem to be interesting. Will probably make a trip up to Colorado to see several locations and compare product quality among the different operators.

                  Thanks for your input.
