Its Nichols Market---but its VERY local---they have three stores here in SE Oklahoma--so you wont find one---but i am guessing you might see instore hot dog buns some where---if they already seperate and cut them --ask if you can get them BEFORE they do it.(Nichols also make a KILLER cobbler!!)

All of our local supermarkets have in-store bakeries and at least a few of them have the kind of hot dog rolls described by Tiki - yhey aint exactly real New England types, but they work out better than those national brand types for a good hot dog nosh.

    cheers, John

very true John--not quite the same--but a good nosh! the ones here are a bit heavy--dont get that same "Steamed soft" inside when grilled--i think they are a bit heavy--but at least you can set them down withour the dog and fillings spilling all over the plate!!--and the LOOK cool!

I suspect the dough for those supermarket rolls is made in a factory that supplies all of them. it is probably formed into the roll pans and frozen and shipped all over the country. But, regardless, they are pretty damn good.
Better than those dreadful potato rolls that I really detest.

        Cheers, John

Just went to a website and ordered 24 New England Rolls for $19.95 including shipping. WWW.mapleandmore.com. Looks like the real thing to me.

I've never seen one of those naked buns before.

I'd have to wrap it in a napkin to hold it.

I am getting here kinda late, and everyone has already mentioned the fact that is a "New England" type of bun. I like those type of buns, and do miss them here in the south.
I like them and I am going to contradict myself in saying that I do like them for hot dogs. I feel that they can handle all the goodies that you like to put on a dog.. Chili, relish, onions, slaw,..there is room at the top, so to speak.

I did love there when I was in New England, and not just for dogs.. You can cram a nice Philly into them also...

Did Pepperidge Farm stop making the split-top hot dog bun?
When I lived in NC it was the closest roll available to the NE Roll I grew up on.

Given that they're a national brand, I was wondering if anyone has seen them lately?

I used to see the Pepperige Farm top split bun in our local Giant market but haven't in about a year. Really would like to be able to get top split buns but none around here.

I too have been looking for split buns. I have checked every grocery store/bakery in town but to no avail. I fix brautwurst about once every 2 weeks and I can't hardly stomach reg. hot dog buns. I am from Huntsville, AL, and if anyone knows whers I can get them here, please let me know.

I replied to your plea in the hamburger post. I have a friend sending me some now from Massachusetts, and I ordered extra if you would like them.
