Spokane to Missoula

I will be in the Upper Idaho area (Coeur D'Alene) for a fly fishing trip, but short (4 days). On my first day, though, I will not be fishing, rather driving from Spokane to Missoula to take in the town for a few hours. I was looking for a late night dinner place in Spokane (probably brewpub) and lunch in Missoula the following day. Will be in the Coeur D'Alene area the remaining 3 days, where I plane to eat at the Wolf Lodge Inn. Any suggestions?

There's a great little hole-in-the-wall diner called "Sam's Cafe" in Kellog, ID about 45 mins east of Coeur D'Alene on I90. They have great diner food and the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. In Missoula, Mackenzie River Pizza is a fun place and you can't beat the Pickle Barrel for great sandwiches!

In Spokane or Coeur d'Alene, try The Elk or Moon Time. I haven't been to The Porch in Hayden Lake, but all three places have the same owners and some of the same menu items. http://wedonthaveone.com/ If you like a mixture of Mediterranean food, and lots (lots!) of garlic, The White House Grill in Post Falls, ID is one of my favorites. also, if you are having breakfast in Spokane, try Frank's Diner (a railroad car converted to a diner), or Old European (what the name says - breakfast treats like Aebelskivers, Dutch Babies, potato pancakes with sausage - yummy.) There is also an Old European in Post Falls.

The Uptown Cafe, on Higgins Ave. in Missoula. If it is full, there is also a good Mexican Restaurant just across the street, but I can't remember its name right off.
