Sputnik Gum Balls

Does anyone remember Sputnik Gum Balls? They were round, sort of greenish blue and covereed with crystaline sugar which made them sparkle. They were a sweet minty tasting gum and came out in the early 60's after the Russians put up the first space satellite, Sputnik.

I sure do remember Sputnik gumballs. I wish I could find them today. I've searched the internet for these, but can't find anything like it. I'm sure someone copied the taste..but I haven't found it. I remember the unusual blue/green color very well, and the taste I haven't tasted since. I sure would like to find these.

I remember them and think about them all the time; wishing they were still on the market. Even if another company reproduced them with the same taste they wouldn't be the same as those pretty blue, sugary "little satellites"!

my father was a truck driver that used to pick up from Leaf Candies and everytime he had a stop there - he brought home cases of sputniks. I would share them with only a very few of my friends. they were my absolute favorite. I wish i could get them, just to see if they are as good as my childhood memories.

Time may have confused my senses, but to me Kid's Crest toothpaste tastes just like Sputnik gum balls. It probably helps that the tooth paste is blue and sparkly like the gum balls. Get a sample from your dentist, or a pump dispenser at the drug store. Let me know what you think.
