St. Pete, Fl and cafeteria's Wed, 02/16/11 12:23 PM (permalink)
I was thinking about Florida back in the late 60's and early 70's. I remember downtown St. Pete having probably a dozen or more cafeteria's. Downtown St. Pete in those days consisted mainly of retired people with many very large retirement hotels. Apparently cafeteria's were the type of restaurant that they preferred. I'm sure you could get a meal for a $1 or $2. One or more of the main streets also were lined with green benches where the retirees would sit every day. In those days all the cafeteria's had waiters that carried your tray to the table, took the dishes off the tray and got your drinks.
Just some random memories.
