The Albacore in olive oil is my favorite, at $1.99 for 2 1/4 ozs. pricy but good. Numerous flavors in the packaged Tuna, any opinions?

Oil pack is getting hard to find and I didn't know they do it in the packages. Last oil pack that I remember seeing was in the little cans and out of all the tuna selection, there was only one choice. You can't make a decent tasting tuna sandwich with water pack and the spec for the place I worked for many moons ago was dark for taste. The other thing nowadays is the concern of mercury in Albacore for kids. Which means that I have to use Skipjack when I prepare tuna salad for the little ones on Sunday lunches. You can oil water pack easily if you have to. To a 64 oz can that's been sink press drained, I add 1/2 cup oil mixed with 1 cup of finely chopped onion that's been nuked in a microwave for 2 min and combined with the pressed out and flaked tuna for 5 minutes in the fridge. If you find my article here about infused oils, that's a nice option for taste.

What do you mean by packaged? I don't believe I've ever seen tuna in a package, unless you mean a can or a jar.

A package is a foil-ish bag. I'm opposed to squeezing food out of a package unless it's a condiment.

Around here Michael, ALL the Supermarkets carry Star Kist Tuna in a foil package, it's, different flavors added like Tuna with Lemon spice, about 5 or 6 different flavors, all in water except the Albacore in olive oil, which I like a lot, even at $1.99 for 2 1/4 ounces of it. They even have tuna salad premade in a package, which I wouldn't touch with said pole.

Michael, they are called Flavor Fresh Pouches. Kinda like Tender Vittles cat food used to be. They even have it in low sodium after much begging & pleading from me. I don't care if it's oil or water packed, just so long as I don't have to rinse the salt off it. The best loso is Starkist Albacore Very Low Sodium, it's less than 100mg of sodium for the entire can. http://www.starkist.com/p...te-albacore-tuna-water I do have a pouch of the other in my desk at work for emergencies. http://www.starkist.com/p...acore-white-tuna-water

What I don't like about the foil packages besides the higher price and less tuna is that many claim to be pre-drained and recipe ready, but aren't. They still have a lot of residual fluid and still have to be squeezed out in my experience if you need a drained product to start with.

You appreciate the foil packages when you have a disability like I do and can no longer open cans of any kind. Still, the foil package isn't that easy either and I usually have a mess so I just don't eat tuna very often anymore.

OK. Thanks everyone. I stopped by the canned meats section of the supermarket a little bit ago and looked. Indeed they're there.
