Startup help

I am currently working on my business plan for a small hot dog/lunch counter type establishment. I have worked with SCORE and the SBA, but I'm looking for as many resources I can gather. Those of you that have started a small restaurant what other resources would you suggest to help me? Are there any books, trade magazines, or associations that you would suggest? I am currently working in a small restaurant to gain experience and to find contacts. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm starting my own restaurant too. I have found that the greatest help you can get is not the books etc. but someone in the business with experience. I spent 27 years in a different business and had some prior restaurant experience but after helping people with questions they had for years that my experience in my old business gave me it's my turn to pick brains and the other restaurant guys I know are only too willing to help. I can read and assimilate any material but an experienced hand can answer in minutes what a book can deliver in an all day read. Don't be afraid to ask others! Just remember to answer when you're the vet!!
