Steak n' Shake in Austin

A few months ago, SnS finally opened a shop in South Austin. Near that same time, I noticed a sign a couple of miles from me on a lot that said that SnS was coming soon. My roadfood/fastfood triumvirate is almost complete here; Waffle House about a year ago, and now Steak n' Shake. As soon as White Castle opens a store here, I'll feel completed. The best part is knowing that WJ will have a place to eat down in South Austin when he visits in February.

please open in NJ, Steak n Shake !! Any marketing reps from Steak n Shake out there?!? Hello ; we really need one here in the Atlantic City/Egg Harbor Township area. 24 hour drive thru would go over real well, as we are a 24 hour town! The casinos stay open 24 hours, so there are plenty of people working ""graveyard" shift, etc. 50,000 casino workers. come on , Steak n Shake! Pretty please?!?

Bob and I went to Steak and Shake for dinner last night( the new Ruby Tuesdays was over packed to the gills)I just wasnt impressed with the sandwiches for the price. However, their chili had a Cinncinnati taste, and was excellent.Bob loved the fries( so thin and crispy!)and his malt was fantastic. We will go back, if nothing for some chili and fries!

Ann, During Bushie's last visit to us here in Kentuciana, He bought a case of SnS Chili to take home on the plane. This was in the Pre-SnS in Texas days!! He will go to great lengths to obtain some of the local favorites when in a 'new' area. Ya gotta love a guy like that ! He also loves Dogs !

To put it lightly, our Steak N Shake where I am here on the Gulf coast...well it kind of sucks. I know this isn't the case for every SnS, but the only one in my town is a big time toss up. The food hasn't been that good the last several times I went, but at least the shakes have always been consistently good. Alas, I haven't actually had the goodness that is one of their shakes in many moons. Frickin' diabetes....

S&S is a place you stop at off the highway, better than the big burger chains but not great. Huts, Dirty Martins, Casino El Camino, P. Terry's... Austin's got you covered with very good, non-franchise burgers. Why get excited about Steak and Shake?

My husband and I had Steak and Shake in 2000 when we visited Graceland. I remember I had really wanted to try it for a long time and I was pretty impressed. I had a burger, fries, and shake. I first spotted them in 1997 when we drove up to Wisconsin from Texas but we never had an opportunity to stop. So finally on a steaming August afternoon we ate at SnS. I'm glad to know there's one in Austin now.
