Valle's was a small chain that had restaurants in Maine, Mass, Connecticut, and for a short time in NY & NJ before it folded. I remember them as being ok with reasonible prices. We ate at the Hilltop a couple of times - that was enough between the very poor service and mediocre quality of the meat.

I am pretty sure the steakhouse in Braintree used to be Valley's, my dad used to manage the Eddie and Mike's Sunoco stations on either side of the highway, and I used to see it almost every day as a kid.

Hilltop was a destination stop for us on the way to/from various county fairs in northeast MA, notably the Topsfield Fair.

There are some pics here of their signs: http://www.agilitynut.com/signs/ma2.html

Google street view also has imagery from right outide the Saugus location.
