Happily we are returning in two weeks to Colorado--last year the roadfood posters added great food to a similar trip--we have one night in Cheyenne, and three in Steamboat , with a morning stop in Walden CO in between. Anything new this year?

Although I was planning a stop in Cheyenne on my now defunct cross country baseball tour, I was planning on stopping at two different places. I know nothing about them except that they have gotten excellent reviews on aol. Both are relatively new BBQ joints that are known for their beef brisket, The Cheyenne Smokehouse and Smoke n' Peppers. By all means if you check these two places out, let us know how they are

Have a great time in Steamboat, it's my favorite place. I spend 10 days every winter at the Sheraton, great time. My favorite place to eat the is The Butcher Shop in ski time square. Really good Buffalo, Prime rib and french onion soup. I have posted a link. The Smokhouse on the main drag is good as well. I've always thought the portions were a bit small so order the big plate. Want some good wings and burger try the Tap House also on the main drag. Slope Side Grill at the base of the mountain has brick oven pizza, if you don't mind crowds. For Mexican go with Dos Amigos. Can't wait for winter now!

I've posted a link to the dining guide as well.

      Have Fun.

WJ-- thanks for the info--The Cheyenne Smokehouse had really good brisket and pretty good ribs. Opt for the habanero laced sauce on the side. We couldn't handle two bbq meals in one night, but Smoke n' Peppers looked a little too much like Applebee's, so we chose the smokehouse---five tables in the side of an old town b&b, doing most business as carryout.

TE-- thanks for the Steamboat info-- Dos Amigos and The Smokehouse are still great--for our fancy meal, we still prefer the elk loin at Cafe Diva over The Butcher Shop--but no argument with either. We also enjoyed a good andouille po-boy at Lucile's and blueberry pancakes at Mother's Deli in ski-time square.
