It is a retail dog.  I see them at Walmart and Piggly Wiggly.  A red dog.

Ahh, no thanks on the red dogs. If you are just starting out I would suggest you use a premium (all beef) dog like Nathan's, Sabrett, Vienna Beef, Boars Head, etc.....

If you want to go a bit cheaper but all beef look for the Bakers and Chef brand at Sam's.  I still prefer a name brand that I can advertise I am using.....

Hi DanGoodDogs, and welcome to the forum. We use Hebrew National, and Hebrew National was nice enough to send us not only some umbrellas, but also some hats, Aprons and T-Shirts. When someone comes to our cart, they have no doubt that they are getting a Hebrew National 100% Pure Beef hot dog...and it has helped sales. Stick to a good brand and let eveyone know it.

Dragon Dog...how did you get HN to do that? I use a fantasic MI brand dog, I sold over 14,000 hot dogs last summer they dont do anything like that. I serously might change brands.  I dont want to because I promote that I use only MI products.

Hi markmcgeeii; It all began about a year ago when I emailed them to ask how to get an umbrella. The Customer Service dept told me to email a lady named Leigh Platte. I emailed her and let her know that we sold only HN items that we purchased at Restaurant Depot. She sent us an umbrella. Back around the holidays of 2011, I emailed her again to let her know that we were going to build a 2nd cart and a 3rd one by the end of 2012. She then got the broker in touch with us who delivered to us 2 more umbrellas and the T-shirts, hats and aprons.

Hebrew National makes a great product (even though it is not Natural Casing). I love selling their products and dealing with them. Not Once has she asked us for proof that we purchase the products...unless she is verifying that with Restaurant Depot.

It does help the sales, although I have to admit some customers just don't pay attention. I had a customer about 2 weeks ago ask about our "Fire Breathing Dragon Dog". I described it to him (mind you...I'm wearing my HN Hat and Apron and standing under our HN umbrella), and he asks..."And that is made with a Vienna Beef Hot Dog?". I looked at him for a moment and pointed to the umbrella, to which he replies "DUH! I'm only looking straight at you with all the Hebrew National stuff on", then we both laughed.

Anyway...Hebrew National is very easy to work with for stuff like this. That's been my experience.
