Still craving those Sonic slushies

Al,
We just got a Hot Dog on a Stick at our mall's food court. I love their frozen lemonade--made with real lemons and cane sugar! I haven't tried their lime lemonade or cherry lemonade flavors. The girl told me it is a syrup that is added to the lemonade (no fruit). Have you tried either of these? Do I dare even compare to Sonic's?

Glad to see a beverage forum...finally!

    OffLady,
I've not watched the creation of one of the Sonic Drinks...just consummed the results ! They toss in the Lime pieces after squeezing them and add some Lime juice and a cherry syrup, but add a couple of Marashino Cherries (more for decoration than flavor, I think). The Strawberry-Lemon adds lemon pieces as well as 'smushed' strawberries to the syrup flavors in the drink too. I am talking about the 'ADES' beverage. The Slushes are similar!

We had a 'Hot Dog on a Stick' Kiosk in the Mall near us in SoCal. We lived on the high desert there and those lemonades with real lemon in them were a tasty beverage for sure. We didn't have the slush version available then. Also, I did not see the berry or cherry versions of the lemon back in the "old days" (the '90's!!)

Comparing the two "ades" is pretty 'even'. I have yet to find a beverage that compares to the Sonic Slush format !

I had a cherry limeade slushie from Sonic not too long ago and was disappointed that it was carbonated, I didn't care for that. I was hoping for a straight limeade cherry slushie. The best lemonade we have around is Chick-Fil-A.....

My fav. to order at Sonic is the diet strawberry limeaide. It is made with diet lemon-lime drink and they put strawberry slices in it too. I always ask for extra strawberries and it is wonderful and very refreshing.

    Ruty,
I must say I like the carbonation in the Slushes. I usually ask for extra Lime in my Cherry-Lime combo. It is plenty 'Tart' and makes a great "on the road" sipper!

I'm so excited. Heard a Sonic is being built here in Brick....Ate at a Sonics once and was amazed at the drinks. What a fun place to take the family!

I'm not sure what you mean by "sipper", I wanted to put some rum in mine!

my favorite slush from Sonic is the Lemon Berry. It's got nice big chunks of strawberries and so tangy and sweet....I'm not too much a fan of Sonic but I LOVE that slush flavor! mmmmmm

    76-
Janet loves the Lemon Berry flavor also! For Me it's Cherry-Lime!

Rusty- We usually get the 'ade' or slush while on the road. So adding any 'good stuff' isn't part of the plan. When I say sipper, I refer to the way one seems to last a long time when we are traveling. I do recall making one purchased in Kayenta, AZ last about 100 miles thru Monument Valley a couple of years ago !!

    Al,
I tried the Cherry Lemonade at HotDog On A Stick. It just isn't the same as Sonic's. It must be the lack of added fruit. Their Cherry and Lime syrups are of good quality, no HFCS, and is not pasteurized, and no fruit aside from the slice of lemon. Oh well. At least their lemonade is good and pure (cane sugar, lemons, purified water).
