Traditionally it's been called a BRAT diet; Bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast. Suppliment that with a Bismuth compound such as Kaopectate or a Pink Bismuth such as Pepto Bismol and also rehydrate with a Gatoraide type sports drink should do the trick in most cases. If you have access to OTC meds. Loperimide is the best choice. For general runs if you seek medical attention, the prescription Lomotil is usually prescribed. If this is something serious as an enteric infection such as the anerobe C. Difficile, a toxin binding suppliment such as Questran and Vancomyacin is what's usually administered. Don't take any chances especially if you're not young and keep the fluid intake high and keep rehydrated and replenish lost electrolytes with a sports drink.
