Wow! I remember when my family took a trip to North Carolina from Chicago in 1977 when I was 7 and there were Stuckeys all along the way. We always stopped there for gas and bathroom/ stretch the legs breaks. What I absolutely loved and miss to this day is my favorite candy they had. They would come in different jars with different flavors. They were stick candy reminiscent of candy cane sticks that were wrapped but the flavors were awesome! They had Root Beer and Lemon which were my favorites! I also liked Cherry. The great thing about them is they lasted forever!

There is still one on I-70 west of Richmond, Indiana, at Exit 145.

Is this one still open? The last time I stopped there was 8 or 9 years ago, and when I last drove by there (2006?) it seemed like it might've been closed. Then again maybe it was just a slow time of day. Brad

Growing up in St. Louis Stuckeys were a common place roadside feature along interstate. They are famous for their pecan logs...they is a Stuckey-Gas Station combo at the I-95 exit of Sebastian, FL. bkk

Stuckey's was the scourge of childhood trips to Florida down I-75. I hated it, and we always stopped there. I think many of them are now "Cafe Risque" and things like that, which is probably worse. Andrea

STUCKEY's What a great American Institution! I remember going to FL on old 301 with my parents in the late 50's and seeing the signs every mile or so. (South of the Border tried the same). Hoping that Dad would stop (He only would if we needed gas or Mom demanded a B-room break). Like Hatteras I remember the secret message/coloring books (WOW - what a flashback that was!). Then in the mid 60's along came Horne's. Almost as many signs and slighty better (perhaps) places. Of course the best part for a cple of 13 year olds was giggling in the backseat was that anyone would name themselves Horne(e)'s. Thanks for the quick nostalgia trip
