Subway $4 footlong? Thu, 11/12/09 3:37 AM (permalink)
The other day I drove past a Subway restaurant (Woodman Drive in east Dayton), and it was advertising $4 footlongs, contrary to their jingle about $5 footlongs.  Is the dollar increasing in value?  Is this happening elsewhere?

Could very well be that your particular location is running a sale.

This article in BusinessWeek explains what you are seeing in Dayton:

Read the bottom of the article. Dayton may be trying to extend the life of the $5 FootLong gimmick. There may be some fine print; it may just be limited to the cheapest-to-make sandwiches on their menu.

          You want meat with that?

A my local Subway after they make your footlong they hold up another container of meat and say...

You want more meat for a dollar?

I like their salads as it's convenient for lunch.

Their you alluded to, are essentially salads on a bread roll...with a wee bit of meat.
