Subway's Pizza...?

Has anyone tried these new pizzas that Subway has come up with? They just started making them in the east Tennessee area this week. I haven't tried one yet, but I here they're like an 8 inch personnal pan. They have 2 different meats; pepperoni or sausage and whatever veggies you like on them.

They had those at a Subway in a Wal-Mart or something similar... they also had pretzels, nachos, and hot dogs. It all looked bad to me. With Pizza Hut Express, it's hard to imagine that Subway pizza could actually survive. I'd love to know the percentage of people who actually order pizza there. I doubt it's all that high. Like chicken at Arby's...which only accounts for 7% of its sales (hence all the new chicken commercials).

I can't even imagine how bad those pizzas would be. But, then again, I am in the NYC/NJ metropolitan area. If you live in the hinterlands, Subway's faux pizzas may be acceptable to you.

I agree the smell is *not good* and is overwhelming. My husband builds model tanks and there's a hobby shop right next to the Subway and its smell has infiltrated the hobby shop so I always sit in the car when he goes in! I don't mind their subs every now and then, but the thought of subway pizza sounds wretched. Andrea

Sounds nasty, considering the food they specialize in is not good in the first place.

Well, I'll stand by my statement that I think the baking bread smells good. Maybe I haven't overdosed on it because the only time I wander into a Subway is when it happens to be attached to the place where I'm fueling my car. (No, not 'getting gas') I had a roommate in college that thought Subway ruled. When did they stop the procedure of cutting the little wedge out of the top of the bun? Edited to say that I still think their bread has the taste and consistency of a bath towel.

as long as I think of a Subway sandwich as just a sandwich its rather good, I look at it as a chain deli where you chose your bread, meats cheese filling and condiments..Sandwich yes, sub/hoagie? not even close! I havent seen the pizza but I doubt Id bother ordering one

I think Quizno's has pizza too but only in kids meals, according to the menu I'm looking at.

Must be a test market. I have not heard of this, and Subway would be well off to cease testing of pizza. We already have too many crappy fast pizza joints already, namely Dominos, pizza hut and papa johns! STOP. we dont want anymore sh$$$y pizza,.thank you very much.

I loved it though...and I agree that the old way was better, especially for a meatball sub and the veggie sub.

I have had the Subway pizzas. They had them in Carbondale, IL close to a year ago. They are pre made with a crust, sauce and cheese, which by iteslf, is fairly underwhelming, however if it is topped well with the fresh ingredients at Subway, it can be a decent pizza. From what I can recall, they seemed to be fairly reasonably priced as well, around $3.50 US with sausage and extra cheese. I would go with this combo plus green pepper, onion and olive for best results. Subway's sandwiches are ok for what they are, though they are a little on the pricey side. My current favorite sandwich chain is Jimmy John's. My current favorite sandwich establishment is the deli counter at Durham's grocery store in Stanford, KY.

Around these parts, Subway makes a Pizza Sammy with tomato sauce and pepperoni and Genoa Salami. I'm not fond of that particular sandwich, but don't mind Subway generally, and I used to work at one!

My sister recently split a subway pizza because we were unsure of it also. Actually it wasn't that bad. It tasted kind of like a Pizza Hut knockoff. I guess our judging things before trying them shouldn't always be trusted.

I read that Dunkin Donuts is also test-marketing pizza at some locations.

Alrighty then. I guess it's time for me to have a test run. Hmmmmmm. Let's see here.... OK. GOT IT!!! My pizza shall be double pepperoni, ham, double onion, tomato, green & bananna peppers and also with a few jalepenos randomly thrown in. Of course with all that I'll need plenty of extra (2 kinds of) cheese and perhaps some extra sauce. Needless to say, it must be less than $5.00 and also MUST be piping hot with a crispy crust and of course have extra yummy toppings when served a mere 90 seconds later. What do 'yall think?
