You're right, they're not asking for money.

bill voss They aren't asking for anything. How is it extortion?

Well, we don't know what communications took place before the lawsuit took place, but we do know that they are asking specific performance on the part of Taco Bell. Also note that while the news stories have reported that monetary damages are not being sought, this does not discount lawyer's fees and punitive damages.

I fail to see an extortion charge, but a loser-pays system is warranted here.  If Taco Belch's product doesn't "meat" the USDA definition of ground beef, a consumer "beef" in court is an appropriate attempt at remedy.  On the other hand, if the plaintiff loses, they should belch up all costs for both sides.

Good Spin Doctors at Da Bell. They're thanking them for sueing them. I'll bet many people will go and buy their products just to see what all the Brew-Ha-Ha is about.

That's true.  Sometimes bad publicity is good publicity.

This experience says it all...

Recently, at one of my hometown Taco Bells in McKinney, TX, I had an explanation/apology from the drive-thru window girl on why the line was moving so slowly:  "Our meat hose is broken!"

Well the people who had the beef with Taco Bell over their Beef have dropped the lawsuit.
Go Figure!

Taco Bell spent several Million Dollars defending their good name. I guess the 39 cent Tacos will be $1.39 now.

Interesting.  Their so-called "beef" still doesn't look or taste like beef, but what can you say.

Fox News is reporting that Taco Bell is demanding an apology from the class action lawsuit specialist firms that handled the lawsuit:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/26/taco-bell-threatens-sue-law-firm-brought-beef-suit/#ixzz1Kl3Jn5Nz
and is meeting with franchisees to see if they should sue the two law firms.

Montgomery, AL's WSFA-TV had the actual lawsuit included as part of their original story on the suit:
http://www.wsfa.com/Global/story.asp?S=13885025
That batch of taco meat shown in the label photo was made by Tyson. The first ingredient listed on the label is beef. I hope the Taco Bell franchisees shake down the law firms. That's what professional liability insurance is for. They probably never took samples of food to a testing laboratory.

Taco Bell could have avoided all this by just producing the Cattle's Birth Certificates earlier!

I loved Taco Bell for their regular tacos and the enchirito. Bob said years ago that something was wrong with the meat. He would only order bean stuff there.
