Well, maybe not the star, but it figures in the plot: http://brooklawnproductions.com/bobbydogs/main.htm

Bobby Dogs is a low-budget indie movie filmed in Fairfield and Bridgeport, Connecticut last summer. It's playing at the Community Theatre in Fairfield through Thursday 6/7/07 in case any neighbors want to check it out.

Synopsis from the web site:

As a recovering alcoholic, Bobby Tucker is wracked with inner doubts about his ability to change and to avoid the perpetual relapses that have so far scarred his life. Stuck in a dead end job with an abusive employer, Bobby and his fellow kitchen worker, Fernandez Holmes, decide to quit their jobs and strike out on their own. As Bobby is hounded by loan sharks and haunted by his malevolent former boss, Jen Shea pedals her way into Bobby's life, empowering him to battle his inner demons which threaten to propel Bobby back to drinking.

Looks like striking out on their own means buying a hot dog truck, played by the old SDW wagon. SDW's own Gary Zemola has a role, too. Check out the trailer on their website. I'll probably go tonight, just 'cause I don't get to see the nabe on the big screen very often (well, okay -- never.)

Well, okay, Citizen Kane it wasn't. But the plot does involve a New-England-wide hot dog contest, in which our hero enters the New Yorker and Georgia Red Hot (both real SDW offerings.) So there's plenty of good Roadfoody vibe. And the dialog includes the line "Super-Duper Weenie Man has magical powers," or something like that. Gotta love that. Lots of familiar Bridgeport and Fairfield geography too. Maybe not a Hollywood-quality production but worth the four bucks the Community Theatre charges. Definitely interesting if you're from the area or are a fan of SDW -- maybe not so much for a general audience.

One major gripe as a proud Park City resident is that even though the protagonist runs the SDW truck out of Seaside Park in Bridgeport they describe him as doing business in Fairfield. Boo!

Oh, and Gary Z was quite convincing as a character actor (maybe better than a couple of the pros in the cast...)
