Surgery for the Mrs.

My wife Trudy had surgery to remove scar tissue from her right eye yesterday. She is recovering and doing well but will have to eat my cooking for the next few days. Good thing she likes frozen waffles, salads and pizza. A few days of laundry and housecleaning for me.

Are you kidding? If I were her, I'd have you out there fetching me some chowder from you-know-where! I'm sure it would be a sight for sore eyes (groan). Send her my best wishes.. Don't burn the waffles.

When Trudy is back on her feet, she's gonna have a big mess to clean up! I'm wishing her a speedy recovery and Mr Chips, you best get down that sweeping, moping and dusting thing, more importantly your food service skills. Your menu sort of stinks. How about clam chowder, salmon, or oyster stew. This stuff grows in your backyard. This advice comes from a man who has been married to "one of them" for 35 years! PS..... Trudy, milk this thing for all you can and as long as you can make it last!! Good luck mr chips.

Thanks to all for their good wishes. Trudy's recovery has gone well. The eye pressure is down and she only has to wear the eyepatch at night. She resumed cooking 3 days ago and is much happier with the food. The oyster omelette she made for breakfast today was top notch.

Good news. It's nice to hear it. Oyster omelet, huh? I wouldn't even make that on a GOOD day. Good for her.

She is recovering and doing well but will have to eat my cooking for the next few days. Good thing she likes frozen waffles, salads and pizza. A few days of laundry and housecleaning for me. I've been there and done that, except for the frozen waffles, etc. Back in 95 or 96, both my wife and my red-headed step daughter had a tonsillectomy on the same day. As a method to summon my presence whenever they "needed" anything, they both had a bell, a notepad, and a pen. Whenever either one of them "needed" anything, they would ring the bell, which would summon me to their sides, and then they would use their pads and pens to write me a note as to what it was that they "needed". For the first few days, everything was ok- as in "tolerable". However, after about a week or so of the constant bell ringing and note writing, I almost reached the point where I wanted to place the bells in such a manner, that every time they would "pass gas", a bell would ring! So much for angels getting their wings! Fortunately, we all got through that time, and still love each other. Hang in there, waffles and all!

Oyster omelet? Never thought of such a combination. I do like eggs as well as oysters. Do you think Mrs. Trudy would cook a batch for a few hundred of your roadfood buddies? Very pleased she is doing well!
