I try. It makes up for my writing.

Just checking out the new forum software's ability to re-size photos.  It is helpful that I don't have to remember to upload 800x600 images to flickr!

Okay, I have a question.  When you get the URLs for your pictures from Flickr, they say very plainly that they would prefer for you to snatch and grab the html that refers people back to Flickr instead of doing the URL farm thing.  Such html is below:

Fourth time was a charm. This is a pic of some grape leaves at Three Brothers Serbian Restaurant in Milwaukee. Is this like the old forum in that you must be an Insider to post from your hard drive?

OK, I figured that out but it is convoluted.

Davydd was that the 'correct' way to post from Flickr?  Can you tell me?

I don't know if there is a 'correct' way. But here is the full size that I uploaded.

I think I have figured it out. First, I uploaded photos and created a "Photostream" or "Set" of photos as they call it...

Then I double-clicked on one of the photos to bring up this page...

Then I selected "All Sizes", one of the small options you see right above the photo...

You are presented with Square, Thumbnail, Small, Medium and Large options. Select the one you want then copy the "Option 2" URL address at the bottom of the page. This is the URL...

Warning! Right below option 2 is this reminder...

Remember! Flickr Community Guidelines specify that if you post a Flickr photo on an external website, the photo must link back to its photo page. (So, use Option 1.)

Flickr Community Guidelines say to this about linking back to Flickr.

Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
The Flickr service makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.

I guess I am legal because I have provided several links back to Flickr in this message that you can follow along with the explanations. It is kind of confusing to me. Photobucket.com is much easier and does not have that condition.

The tenderloin sandwich, BTW, is the Dairy Sweet in Dunlap, IA, the 2005 Iowa Pork Producers Association best breaded pork tenderloin winner.

This is Flickr Option 1 their Community Guidelines tell you to copy and use. As you can see in this forum it just gives you this gobblygook when pasted here. Totally confusing. However, if you examine it closely, the second URL address buried in that string is the correct URL that you could strip out and enclose with [img][/img].

Another test. This is from my MobileMe Gallery. Crawfish beignets from the Augusta Restaurant in Oxford, IA.



This works too and I have more control directly from my Mac iPhoto libraries. If I edit a photo on my computer in iPhoto any changes will automatically update in this referenced photo from my MobileMe gallery.

Weird. I could not see it either, but then I went in and logged in to MobileMe and it now shows up for me. I have the Test MobileMe Gallery hidden from view by all but me. I think I will make it public and see what happens.

I use Photobucket.com too for almost all my photos in Roadfood.com. But there are people who use other sites and I just got a bit curious as to how they worked and compared. There are positives and negatives with them all. I might check out a few other photo sharing sites.

One thing that does bug me is the massive rip-off of photos by others. I find several of my pork tenderloin sandwich photos on the internet being outright claimed by others. It doesn't bug me that they get passed around. What bugs me is they are passed off by people claiming they took the photo. A Facebook group ripped off several of my photos yet Facebook has a check mark that you say you own the photos when you upload. That's why I only upload low-resolution photos of medium quality JPEG conversion. No one gets to see the true quality that resides on my computer. With the six IPPA BPT winners I experimented with a watermark, "porktenderloinsandwich.com" on Facebook just to see how those photos might proliferate. There are also unmarked version about.

Another friend has done Google image searches on a couple of hers to see where they ended up--and they do tend to roam.  It's smart to use the watermark.  And of course I can see your beignets now--yum!

This one is from ImageShack. It isn't as straightforward as Photobucket.com on first look and try. I had to do some manipulations to figure out what to post.
