TV Food Shows

Did any of you watch the TV show about contestants competing for a chance to open three restaurants across the USA? We were totally amazed with some of the suggestions. One thing for sure is that your idea needs to be somewhat off the cuff yet still feasible to do. We liked the grill cheese guy, maybe because we just purchased a new sandwich press. We watched Hotdog Paradise last night for who knows how many times. Hotdogs are still a great item to sell. From our experience you need an angle. We have way too many gas station chains around here selling dogs for a buck. Last year around the holidays we setup and tried selling dogs. If we had been regulars at the site we probably would have done OK, but since we only setup during events we never built up a customer base. We fixed a hotdog the way the customer wanted then served it to them. We had all the toppings plus a couple of different mustards. Last night we watched part of the show Carnivores. We really don’t like watching a guy consume as much food as the host does. The one segment of the show that interested us was the guy who grilled two dogs on the griddle; put Swiss cheese on it; grilled two buttered buns; covered the buns with jam and placed the two grilled dogs and cheese on top. What we really like about the food shows it the diversity of food items being prepared and served. Since we mainly do festivals we are looking forward to trying some different types of grilled sandwiches. We think that our future is in being innovative at festivals. We found out early on that the more unique your food item is the better chance you stand to get into some festivals. Last year was the maiden run for the trailer; this year will be spent refining our concept.

I just watched the pilot. I think the people that were picked had unique ideas that can work on a large scale. The ones that were sent home had mostly been done before and wouldn't catch the attention of new customers and find their place nationally. I like the final 10, it should be an interesting show to watch

those tv food shows crack me up! you never see them wear gloves or anything. like on that chef battle show, or throw down, etc very seldom will anybody wear gloves , use a thermometer, use hair restraints.on, on, on,................ maybe the h/d should inspect them.speaking of h/d i had a routine inspection today and we have a ez up with table and chairs up ...he says there used to be a law that said no table or chairs that would be consider as a restaurant and you are mobil, but now tallahassee has rethought it and have allowed them until they can figure a wqay to close the loop hole... seems when told about the table and chair thing most guys said those are not mine they belong to the guy we rent from... so for the time being its legal to have tables and chairs!! sorry didnt mean to hijack yur thread but i got going and lost myself

Here a real genius, Bobby Flay's Burger Palace. It must a took all of 5 min to come up with that sign. And guess what you get on the inside? For him or any other judge to coment on another mans sign or name unless there just using this show to out right steal the peoples idea from them and have their name put on the building, Aha that it! Flay has so many poeple doing the work for him that it not he's idea he's alone. Yea he worked his way there but it would be gone in 30 sec if he had it to do himself. On his throw down show, it the two other cook's that do the work and they use his name. I don't see any of the challangers using other people's idea's or help with there cooking. If I could afford 300 dollar agram spice or herb in the rack I might have 50-75 dollar plate hamberger too.
