"Tavern Chicken" in Ladd IL

Met someone the other day from Cherry Il, Pop. 509. They went on to tell me about the town next to theirs which is called Ladd. Evidently, Ladd is famous for "Tavern Chicken". They said that people drive down from Chicago to get this famous chicken. Being curious,I did a little research and discovered that what the local's call "Tavern Chicken" is known to other's as "Rip's". Have never tried it but it might be Roadfood worthy. Rip's has been discussed serveral times here. It's very good, there are frequently long lines and be sure and check the hours when they are serving chicken before you make a long drive just for it. Here are a couple of the previous discussions.

I grew up in Ladd and to this day have Rip's grease running thru my veins. YUMMY! I can't make a trip home without stopping for chicken. A tip to the wise: avoid Rip's like the plague when the colleges are out for just about any break. It gets PACKED! If I remember correctly, one of the busiest days of the year is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
